I think I'm gonna start posting in your journal to ask you what a particular pic is now instead of PMing you. Since it means more postcount, ya know.

Coincidentally...what's that pic from? Smiley: tongue

That's my philosophy.

I still need to check that one out. Maybe I'll put it on the list of things to look into after finishing Kamichu(which is effing adorable...only 4 episodes in, but loving that series).

I just use Netflix, and probably spend more buying Anime than I should. Thanks to that and the money spent by my roommates on anime(and PS3 games), I really don't have time to watch the torrents.

If I had the money to spend on entertainment, I probably wouldn't mind paying for licensed subs.

But I don't, so..

I mean, torrents are so readily available and free, so it doesn't make sense for me to buy any anime series I like.

I like to think that I'm helping to give an incentive to companies to actually put effort into making more anime.

And I actually do prefer dubs, when they're done well. Not to mention I have a giant man crush on Crispin Freeman, though not even he could make the Naruto dub palatable.

How often does that happen though?

Fairly often, actually. I'm not saying it has to be leagues above the subbed version. It just has to be pretty good and fit with the show.

I prefer dub too, but it's because I'm lazy and hate reading subtitles. Sometimes, I do prefer subtitles. It's usually if:
A) I watched an anime when it was only available in fansub. When I'm used to how a character sounds and acts in the Japanese version, the English just sounds off. Contrary wise, if I originally watched a series in English dub, I'm used to how the character sounds and acts in the English version and usually have a hard time watching it with Japanese audio. It is easier for me to go E -> J than it is J -> E, so to that end, I can see why people get worked up about how much they hate English dubs.
B) The English voice acting is absolutely intolerable. And by intolerable, I mean for me, not some stuck up **** who watches Naruto and Bleach.

I like watching series as they air, and am really impatient.

Even if I did like dubs, I wouldn't like waiting over a year to watch a "new" series.

While I'm also quite impatient, I hate watching a show one episode at a time. When I watch something, I want it to be in a block of 3-4 episodes at once at a minimum. Which is probably why I'm pissed that I've caught up on Burn Notice and now have to watch it as it airs on cable(or buy episodes off the PSN). Because of that, I'm often okay with waiting til a series is released as a set to watch it, so I often encounter things as dubs first(only switching to a show's sub if I find the dub intolerable).

The only exception is when it's a new season of a series I've already started watching, like Strike Witches.
