I like watching series as they air, and am really impatient.

While I'm also quite impatient, I hate watching a show one episode at a time. When I watch something, I want it to be in a block of 3-4 episodes at once at a minimum. Which is probably why I'm pissed that I've caught up on Burn Notice and now have to watch it as it airs on cable(or buy episodes off the PSN). Because of that, I'm often okay with waiting til a series is released as a set to watch it, so I often encounter things as dubs first(only switching to a show's sub if I find the dub intolerable).

The only exception is when it's a new season of a series I've already started watching, like Strike Witches.
You could always wait a few weeks, then watch the last few eps all at once Smiley: tongue

Actually i usually do just that with non anime shows i watch, though i usually only wait for two eps.

A) I watched an anime when it was only available in fansub. When I'm used to how a character sounds and acts in the Japanese version, the English just sounds off. Contrary wise, if I originally watched a series in English dub, I'm used to how the character sounds and acts in the English version and usually have a hard time watching it with Japanese audio. It is easier for me to go E -> J than it is J -> E, so to that end, I can see why people get worked up about how much they hate English dubs.

I don't have a problem switching from one to the other, though that's probably because it was something of a necessity when I was first getting back into anime when I was in college. Since I was too poor to buy anything entertainment-like, I downloaded a lot of stuff. Since I didn't know a lot about the whole downloading scene(I was using Limewire, for christsakes), I took the episodes as I could find em, which meant I got some dubs, some subs of the same show*. Thanks to that, switching isn't a problem, and I'll often start watching a dub after watching it as a sub first.

*Doesn't hurt that said show was Hellsing, which is considered by many to be an example of a dub where the English voice acting is superior to already well acted show. And, of course, you know...Crispin Freeman.

B) The English voice acting is absolutely intolerable. And by intolerable, I mean for me, not some stuck up **** who watches Naruto and Bleach.

Naruto is the only show where I've ever found the English voice acting to be painfully intolerable(though some 4Kids stuff comes quite close). The little bit of what I had seen of Bleach sounded okay. That said, sometimes while not intolerable, I've found shows to just not sound right in English. Azumanga Daioh, for instance. I'm not sure why, but I just don't find some of it to feel right with the English voices, especially Osaka, despite the fact that I love her voice actress' work as Ruri Hoshino in Nadesico, Rino Rando in Best Student Council and even as Mio Sakamoto in Strike Witches(which is an example of a show where I first watched it in Japanese and then again in English after it came out).

It's easier for me to not start a show at all than to wait for another episode. If I start it, I'll watch it as it comes out. Which is why I prefer not to start it until it's all out(or at least a season is out). Only reason I haven't watched anything from Season 4 of Burn Notice yet is that I'm waiting for a replay of the first episode of the season(on Monday) so I'll only have to buy episode two in order to watch a block of four or five episodes all at once.

Thankfully, most of the American shows I get into are things where you're not waiting til next week to continue the story from this week(Boondocks, Man vs Wild, Dual Survival and Billy the Exterminator are all shows I'm watching a lot of lately).
