Last Exile: action/adventure (Spoonless recommended it to me, and I liked it)
Hidamari Sketch: slice of life, comedy (art students living in a 6 person apartment building)
Toradora: comedy/romance (It starts off more comedy, and ends up more romance)

Check those out for now.

Might also be under The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye, or just The Third.

The Third was kinda meh.

Only series out of the ones you listed Kirby that I haven't seen was Hidamari Sketch. I'll check it out.

Baccano! is another good one. It's.. I guess a mixture of everything.
It has a solid plot, too.

I think the writers were on crack or something when they made the movie.

They might have been. But there are a lot of bizarre ideas coming from Japan.

Have you seen Serial Experiments Lain? It's such a mind ****, and there are series with more *********** in them.

FLCL was one of the weirdest ones I watched. I never understood it.

It's about sex.

But yeah, I didn't really care for the style of FLCL. It's been said you either love it or hate it.
I was in between on that one.
