The once a week fishing contest and Blizz making that part of the new achievement system has brought the worst out of the players. I came to today's fishing *late* on purpose for rare fish only, not for actual contest. Before I could finish fishing on the first cast, a raid of (I think) 10 allies ran over me and completely owned me. Since there was no way for me to communicate with allies (especially on PVP server) so that was expected. Still it seems the allies on Detheroc are losing touch if it takes their whole team more than 10 seconds to kill me (without my healing at all) but typical Detheroc allies usually have the IQ of a rock.

A few minute later someone trained a bunch of bloodsail pirates onto me. This time it was a horde, I suspect he's running griefing scheme to help someone win. I sent a polite whisper thanking him for killing me and telling him I wasn't running for the contest, Never got a reply. Anyway that one I reported since intentional training and such are frowned on.

I did get the fishing hat but it seems fishing contest are much worse since the achievement system went live.

Good job Blizzard! You are doing a good job of driving some players away because of the ill planned feature. Either make the contest run more than once a week, take the fishing contest out of achievement system, or have GM around to watch and pass 2 hours suspension to intentional griefing of any kind.

You might have tried reading the sticky on the main forum.

It's what you signed up for. Ganking and camping are not against the rules. Read the official PvP Policy. If this is a problem for you, create a new character on a PvE server.

Blizz does have a paid character transfer service. If ganking and corpse camping really bother you, move your toon to a PvE server. It will cost you $25, so make certain that you feel that moving off is the right decision. You can change servers from Blizz's Account Management page. You might want to read the Character Transfer FAQ before you swap servers.

Here is a link to the official PvP Policy. You might especially want to take note of "By choosing to play on a PvP server, you have chosen to move the game difficulty slider from 'Easy' to 'Hard.'" and "The Ongoing Harassment policy does not apply when there is a PvP resolution available, as physical confrontations are considered a facet of PvP combat and players in opposing factions are unable to communicate verbally. Characters have the ability to address their conflicts through combat and GMs will only involve themselves in extreme or excessive circumstances."

You (not anyone else) are the reason that you are on a PvP server, and then you cry and whine because PvP happens to you? Shame on you. All you get from me is a /violin.

getting ganked by your own faction is not how PVP server worked. Before the accomplishment system went live, I only had to deal with occasional allies. But since the feature was added with patch 3, I not got to deal with unfriendly hordes as well, and without the option to decline or accept the duel. And this can also be done on PVE server as well.

It's in the rule, intentional griefing is the issue. That is why I'm suggesting GM watching or running more contests so those on the same faction don't have to resort to rule breaking to win one.

Players that are new to game are likely to get turned off by this hostile action.

Fret not - the Allies are acting just as poorly on the PvE servers too - actually the one time I'm happy they dont have a big race like Taurens as they were making quite an effort with thier space paladins to gather around fishermen and jump up and down in front of us as well as the usual harrass the bobber from the water game.

This being a PvE server, of course they do all this nonsense while flagged in the hopes you accidentally click an attack on them.

Once again, I really wish Blizz would install a PvP OFF switch that you can flick that will prevent you from completing any action that would cause you to flag - do that and the days of so many Ally greifers would be ruined resulting in a QQ session so severe that many PvE servers would experience great floods of biblical proportions.

Well, I certainly feel smart for winning the tourny before the expansion came out! :D Although I don't know if it counted for an achievement then... oh well, at least I have a +35 Fishing Rod, which is nice.
