Which is a better Shaman Profession?Follow

#1 Oct 17 2008 at 8:55 AM Rating: Decent
Currently i am a 70 shaman, farming as a skinner/miner. I wanted to turn one of them into a professon. Either Mining/Blacksmithing or Skinning/Leatherworking. Which one would be most beneficial to a shamans gear content?

With Blacksmithing you make plate gear. With Leatherworking mail or leather.

'Nuff said.

The best way is to take a look at what can be made that is useful to you at level 70 .

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/skill.html?line=164 for blacksmiths at high level i guess there are a few things you may like there .

Leatherworking may be more use , take a look at the Dragonscale http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/skill.html?line=165 also there is armour patches and the drums must be worth having , i would guess the Dragonscale and leatherworking will be better ?

I would look ahead to 80 actually.

Try to look ahead to what new toys you can get from 70-80 in the two.

Remember that you'll also lose the bonus from the dropped profession - mining gives you extra health and skinning gives you extra crit.

Don't switch either yet. Drums got nerfed in the last patch and most of the good LW mail pieces are BoE (or have highly expensive/tough-to-get recipes), and the BS weapons will cost you thousands of gold and as at best side-grades (and at worst, inferior) to the easy-to-get PvP weapons.

I'd keep both gathering professions until WotLK, when you'll know:
A) What final-tier items there are available, and
B) How much the components cost/how hard they are to get.

Right now PvP gear is fine for weapons (and somewhat for armor, though realistically with the raid boss nerfs with 3.0.2, raiding is easy and should be done pre-expansion). In the expansion, you need personal ratings to get PvP epics, so then crafted items might be a better idea for people who bite at PvP (myself included).

For now, don't change.
