I got a question to all the egineers: Do you think its possible and practicle to make 80-100g A day with Engineering?

Sure. Prices of primals being what they are, you could fly a route around Nagrand and Zangarmarsh once in the morning and once in the evening, zapthrottling up motes of water and air, and make a reliable 80g...unless another engineer is getting there first.

Yes, engineering can make you a lot of money. Like emmitsvenson said though, the money comes from collecting motes with the mote extractor, not from crafting things.

Sure - engineering helps my toon kick butt doing his dailies and questing and...oh, you mean selling stuff?

Allow me to improve the Question Do you find it easy to make 80g with engineering being under level 300 and not from questand what not

I know people can make a steady profit crafting the engineering items needed for various quests and selling them on the AH--the deadly blunderbuss on Horde is an example that can be crafted at much less than 300 skill.

I very much doubt they make 80g a day. The only non-gathering profession I can think of that would make that kind of money at less than 300 skill would be the disenchanting side of enchanting. Engineering is more profitable as a gathering profession than as a crafting profession.

Let me guess, you didn't get enough positive responses in the thread you posted on the general forum so you came back for more, here. Still trying to promote a website in the hope that you generate enough traffic through adverts that you can make some RL money?

If not, why not post your "guide" on here?

I'd guess that it's a half-baked idea based on selling crafted items that people won't buy enough of to generate your claimed 80g per day.

So in other words, despite your extensive knowledge on how to make money in game, you don't know how to make money in game. >_<

KK - here's a hint - you're not going to be successful with this website of yours because there's already a jillion other websites making the same promises.

Easiest way to earn 100g a day for a normal, casual player is to just do the SSO dailies - you don't need a flying mount, they're all in the same zone so an epic land mount isn't even required and one can bang them all out within an hour.

Can one make 100g or more a day doing tradeskills and playing the AH?

Sure, but it takes a crap load of time, effort and knowledge of your server and its economy and the reality is that most players don't want to spend all that time standing around a city talking to the AH guy and the banker - they want to kill stuff.

If you sell the stuff that sells well, then you'll make some cash. I doubt you'll get 80G a day using it though. On the other hand, Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Leatherworking, and Clothcrafting/disenchanting all combined can make you 200G a day pretty easily. Note that that is the total combined profits. It does depend on your server some too. Take about 45-60 minutes a day which isn't terribly bad.

It looks like Leodis and russtle has you tagged rather well .

So you want us to tell you how to make loads of gold from Engineering so you can make real life gold from a website ? .

The truth is gold can be made but as most Engineering products are for Engineers only , there are only a few things you can either sell or for running around farming some motes , on my server there is always someone running around farming them.

There are a few items as you level that can sell for decent gold but even then only in small amounts , and again on my server there is usually already someone selling them so profits are small.

My guide to making 100g a day as an engineer. Make Discombobulator Rays. They're fun for the whole family! Advertise for a couple of minutes in trade, and then toss them all up on the AH. Depends on the price of jade, of course, but they're a nifty weapon for engineers and non-engineers alike!

My guide to making money with pretty much any tradeskill:

1. Farm the mats to craft something.
2 Don't craft it.
3. Sell the mats.
4. Receive money.
5. Woot!

LOL - yeah, and with a drop rate of 0.39% off of a single boss mob in Gnomer, you know that you'll be one of the only engineers on the server with it (after killing him 200-300 times that is). Smiley: jawdrop

The card to access the schematic is not binding and can be traded on the AH. It's how three of my engineers got it :)

And if it's not on your AH, faming for it really isn't impossible. The security card to access the schematic doesn't only drop off the boss; it has a chance to drop off all mechs in the entire instance (highest rate on the Arcane Nullifiers). If you've only been farming the boss, no wonder it has taken you so long; he only has a .81% chance to drop it, compared to the 2.36% chance each time you kill one of the 10 or so Arcane Nullifiers on the way to his room!

Not sure where you got your information, Rusttle, but someone's pulling your leg big-time if you thought it only dropped off Thermaplugg!

Edit: Ohhhh, you looked up the schematic itself! No no no! That's a horrible way to get this schematic! You want the Security Card: DELTA that drops off of all mechs. Then you access the Computer D terminals and they will teach you how to make a Discombobulator Ray. Wow, I hope you didn't farm Thermaplugg; that would be insane!

Nah - didn't waste time farming.

So you're saying just do the punchcard thing? OK, reasonable enough - what's the drop rate off of doing punchcards before I send my engineer into the joint?

... Did you look at the link I posted? It's 2.36% off the Arcane Nullifiers, and about 1% off any other mech in the zone (including things like the chicken-walker sentries, etc).

You only need one of the DELTA punchcards, it isn't used up when you access the schematics, and thus can be resold on the AH. It might take a while (it is a low drop rate, after all), but clearing all the mechs in the instance a few times isn't tough at 70. Might take an hour of farming if done efficiently, would be my guess.

Heh - turns out that I'm lucky - happened to have the punchcard sitting in bank from my engineer's first/only run through the joint - just walked in up to the puncher and got my formula - many thanks!!

No problem, and congrats! It's a great item, although I think they took out its ability to dismount people. Definitely can't knock them off their flying mounts any more... too bad, as that was great fun back in the early days of TBC!
#21 Sep 28 2008 at 3:29 PM Rating: Decent
They do still knock peeps off of mounts - my pally is my engineer and I was able to stop a bunch of blitzers trying to ride through our lines in AV last night.

I'm not really seeing the movement rate reduction but just being able to shoot someone off of thier horse makes them well worth it (plus there's the whole personal giggle aspect of imagining some Ally throwing a tantrum for having been turned into a lepper gnome). ;-)
