I have been running VC for a few drops and I bought up everything that was green and <30s.

I'm starting to get to the point where I need to move to higher and higher lvl instances. I ran RFK and Gnomer. RFK is fast and the loot is ok. Gnomer sucks.

Can anyone recommend any guidance on what instances I should be solo'ing and for what level of enchanting.

aka - VC is fun and easy and profitable up to 100 enchanting. Then the dusts are below my lvl...
SFK seems ok, but gnomer was a waste, I'm guessing I'm gonna hang in SFK for a bit, then jump to SW Stocks, then to SM. However - that skips several instances and I wasn't sure if those would be more time/cost efficient.

Can anyone recommend an instance progression for farming?

What class and level are you?

Is your only goal to increase your enchanting skill?

You know that disenchanting items will not increase your enchanting skill past a certain point (I think 65)?

Are you trying to farm all your mats to level 1-375 by DEing instance drops? If so, you will hit a point where the time it takes to run an instance vs. the number of drops gets rediculous. But, if you want to do it, then go for it.

I started trying to do this, but got quickly disenchanted (no pun intended.....ok, yes, pun intended) by the lower drop rate from mobs once I hit ZF. The time it took me to run the instance, and the low number of drops (sometimes as low as 4-5 greens) made me stop wanting to go that route. So I started using my Tailoring alt and farming cloth. It was much faster that way.

Then, once I hit the level to go do Dire Maul/Strat/Scholo, then I started back up again. Those instances are just fun, and have a good drop rate for stuff.

QFT... I don't remember the exact level, but if it's the case that you think DEing will level up your enchanting you're mistaken.

But considering you said that "the dusts are below your level," I'm assuming you're trying to find things to DE so you have mats to enchant stuff.

I believe the enchanting wiki (or even just searching for the mats) will show you what can be DE'd to what so you don't waste your time running something that won't help you.

You are just wasting time running instances. Do your dailies and farm the AH. It varies but over the weekend I bought 99 items to DE, all rated to sell for double. Read Mike's wiki on using the AH, it works!! You may want to up the minimum DE level to get better mats, but they all sell.

Short answer: I'm retarded - I forgot that I have a 375 Tailor. I'll just get the cloth... Sell the extra dust... etc.

Long answer: I have a 70 mage and a mid 60s pally - I can solo any instance (That's solo-able) I was looking for the best drop rates instances - as I noticed and you've pointed out - They aren't that great. When I say something is below me - I mean that I'm D/E'ing items that yield strange dust - when I need to make items that require the next highest dust... (Yes - I know you don't get Enchanting skill-up for D/E post 60ish.)

On a side note - This is the most annoying Profession short of fishing. Unless I'm doing something wrong...

Every damn enchant:

Me - Click enchant, then target Bracer, Then WARNING! "Do you want to Replace +1 Crap-stat with +1 Crap-stat?", Then Yes, Then wait for the enchant to happen...

Short of the cast, target, wait, wait, fish bites, click, Auto-collect loot... This is the most annoying....

ha ha ha. I hated that too. But at least you only have to do that 300 times :) Then, you'll never have to do it again.

you said you have a Tailor , so have you thought of creating items then putting enchants on them and then disenchanting them ? still a slow method i know but has the advantage of lots of mats afterwards , and no having to keep replacing enchants on items.

You know what would be cool? If items with enchants DE'd into better stuff. More dust/essences or a chance at more shards/crystals or something like that.

That would take even longer. Replacing enchants is just a quick way to level your enchanting skill. You DE all the created items, and the use those mats to do multiple enchants. Finding a different item for each enchant would just take longer (imho), and take up too much bag space.

This is an awesome idea! Enchant armor, and DE it into Essence. Enchant a weapon, and DE it into a shard. Enchant a blue, and DE it into a crystal. Neat idea. You should work for Blizzard :)
