Paladin ProfessionsFollow

My main is a mage with 375 enchanting and tailoring. However, I rolled a paladin on the opposite faction and I'm wondering what would be good professions for him. I'm planning on using him for healing once he's at 70. Would mining/bs be a good move? I'm not too worried about making gold with him so I don't want to go down the mining/skinning road.

as far as professions for healing, umm would probably go with engineering for the healing goggles; have heard those are close to t5 quality. THat's about all that I've heard is good for healers. In the end just choose a couple of professions that sound like fun to you, since in the end the whatever your profession it really doesn't make that much difference on what you want to do when it comes to endgame stuff i.e. healing/tanking/dps/cc

Herb/Alch.

- The Alch healing trinket is one of the best in the game right now.
- It's rediculously easy to max out both professions
- You make money on herbs and consumables :)

Much much easier than anything else.

However, since you are on another server, and may not have a sugar daddy, another option is to do Herb/Skinning until lvl 70. Then, powerlevel Alch (save the necessary Herbs while you are leveling). It's not necessary to do it this way, but it can help.

You have four options as I see it. Here they are:

Herbalism/Alchemy. YJMark basically summed it up well. The trinket is awesome for healing. You'll be popping potions left and right anyway, and this gives them 40% more effectiveness, as well as the ability to make them yourself (and if you have Potion Mastery, to save a bit on the cost). Herbalism will bring in steady money if you want to farm at 70. Unlike some other professions, alchemy is useful to level on the way up because you can use a lot of the potions. I think this is one of the best choices.

Mining/Enginerring. trollover is right; the goggles are great. As a comparison: Justicebringer 2000 Specs from engineering versus the Crystalforge Greathelm from SSC (Lady Vashj). If you get thousands of extra gold to spend and a lot of luck with someone on your server putting the plans on the AH, you can upgrade your goggles further. Engineering is also very useful as you level up, especially for a Paladin. Even going Holy you'll be out of a ranged attack until level 40, and by then you'll want to judge crusader before using the very costly Holy Shock. Thus, engineering provides a little extra punch, and some nifty toys to increase the already prodigious survivability of a Paladin.

Just keep in mind that you can't use most engineering items in the Arena.

Mining/Blacksmithing. Probably the worst combination. The only real items for healing you can get out of this are the Dawnsteel ones: Bracers and Shoulders. And the bracers are BoE (although the pattern for them is BoP off BT enemies). Other than that you get Weapon Stones and chains. Yahoo? Blacksmithing is really more for melee, it seems.

Enchanting/anything else. For those with profit in mind, take up enchanting with a gathering skill. With enough gold you can buy yourself some decent stuff. Running a simple search, I came up with Oathkeeper's Helm and the bracers listed above. You also get Self-only ring enchants to add a bit more +healing. And in WotLK, you'll get to sell your enchants on the AH.

Have fun deciding :)

Herb + Skinning until 70.

At 70 drop skinning for Mining.

No profession bonuses will beat having the gold for the fast mounts, the epic gems and the top enchants in all available slots.

You might want to level up your fishing too, some outland fish with a high catch rate go for 2g a piece.
