Iron Smelt HelpFollow

I'm at 103 in mining, and I can only smelt Silver bars(orange) or Bronze bars (green). How do I obtain Iron bar smelt? Is there even an Iron smelt? Please advise.

Go to a mining trainer at a mining level of 165.

I think you can get Iron trained at 125, not 165. In the meantime, hit Thelgar Rock and the cave nearby, just inside Wetlands (on the left as you come in from the south).

It's full of spiders but it also has Incendicite Ore, which should get you some points.
There's a quest to get the ore too, but otherwise it is worthless. There are a few Tin nodes in there too, as well as around the perimeter of south Wetlands.

I got my iron smelting skill from a mining trainer in the dwarven district in sw. Not sure what skill lvl I was, but I know I was definitely over 100...(ask a guard for the mining trainer, as they directed me to the trainer that taught me iron smelting)

but at the same time as learning iron smelting I learnt silver smelting...

and talking about silver, I found 1 lone silver node in thelgar rock along with loads of incendcite and the odd tin, but I went back a few days ago and there was no silver to be found...but there is a slight chance one will appear :)

Mining at 125 is the level to learn Smelt Iron.
Get some silver ore from AH (of you can) that will get you to 125 with just about every tick.
I did this trick when I was at 116 Mining cause the Bronze bar goes grey at 115.
Once I got to 125 it seemed like I was tripping over Iron Deposits in Charred Vale and Thousand Needles.

Yes, a slight chance is correct, I don't know the exact percentages. Silver does not have its own node spawns, it occasionally spawns in a tin node. So, wherever you find tin there is a chance that silver will spawn there next after you mine the tin. There is a much greater chance tin will spawn there next after you mine the tin, or the silver.

tjbofca learned the secret for getting through that very dry period in mining - the cave at the entrance/exit to wetlands. The incendicite ore in there is the path to 125 mining, and it respawns like crazy. And it's cheaper than buying ore at the Auction House.

I'm sorry, 165 is steel, not Iron.
