On my server the price has skyrocketed to an insane amount. Rugged leather going for 20g a stack, holy crap why couldn't it have been that expensive when I was actually farming it. Now I have to run my lil nelf butt over to felmoon to farm the bears. How many other servers are seeing an influx in gathering materials?

Crap, I just dropped skinning for Alchemy. Better hurry though it will not last as everyone will flood the market. BTW-dogs in DM north drop 2-3 rugged each and you can see if a rare elite pops in the arena while you farm it and possibly get the orb of deception which goes for insane amounts.

It is worth it with the amount of dogs that are in there, I can't remember if they have a fast spawn rate or not.

You just go in the door kill all the dogs in the courtyard and the miniboss and then leave and reset the instance. You can also run through to the prisoner, you can kill quite a few more dogs on the way and if you get the key and let him go you have a chance to get a couple of old world patterns that sell for a pretty penny(not quickly, mind you, have to list a few times and sell them for lower than list price which probably still reflects preBC prices). This is not time efficient but you can probably do it on the 5th run of every hour due to the reset timer.

Edited to add: you get some nice junk in there too, runecloth which also sells for alot on my server now and happy rocks(a useless item like the leather balls) which people pay 5g a piece for. And it is a nice break from dailies where you will make good money and maybe great money if you get lucky.
