I had a ton of mats last night (saving them up for skill ups).

So I thought I would offer my guild some free, low, low level enchants if anyone wanted them.
A few did, so I went to where they were and did the enchanting...
But I didn't get any skill-ups. . .

You don't get skill-ups from enchanting other people's stuff?

After see no skill ups I stopped offering (I was also going to offer in /1) and just enchanted my own stuff over and over and over again until I had no more usable mats.

You can get skill from enchanting other people's stuff. That's how most people get skill at higher levels.

the problem might be that the enchants you were doing were eithe green or sadly grey so then you wouldn't get any points if they were grey and it's kind of a hit or miss if the spell is green. Would be better off just checking out the enchanting trainer to see if there are any new recipes or you to learn, or hit the AH for any that might drop randomly.

As stated, you have to make sure that the enchants you are doing are green (low chance) yellow (medium chance) or orange (guarenteed skillup) before doing it.

hmm..maybe there were skill ups and i didn't see them on screen.

At the time, they chants were all Orange. When I didn't see "+1" message I stopped my offer and just stood there chanting my own Chest and Bracers with the same enchant over and over until I hit cap (at the time, 75)

But i will for sure make sure they are above Green if i wish to skill up while enchanting others.

thanks.

You should have got skill ups doing others stuff , but that i found was a very slow way to go anyway , as i have a tailor/enchanter and 5 other alts the mats were easy to come by so i did not mind wasting them doing my own gear.

brown linen robes at first got me past the first stage , and as wool is around 5g a stack on my server i quickly went onto silk products anything that was fairly cheap to make and at level 38 with a few cheap weapon buys i have 228 enchanting.

The enchanting sticky does explain pretty well the way to go and i hit 150 in a few hours as i had loads of mats ready from my tailoring , the time it took to make the stuff and disenchant was why it took a few hours , it is also possible on some servers to bid on stuff that has a very low starting bid but a high buyout and gain a lot of mats that way.

Look for tailors/blacksmiths or jewellers power levelling as they usually dump loads of underpriced greens on the auction house , you have to be fast and lucky though as the cheap gear is brought quickly, then its just a case of doing your own gear over and over it should be easy to get to 200+ without much trouble then it does slow down a lot.
