Where is the best place to farm for spiders silk? Does it drop from any type of spider or is it specific?

What kind of silk? Different level spiders drop different types of silk.

there is a search engine on this page. type in the name of the spider silk you are looking for and the info returned will include the mobs that most frequiently drop that specific silk and where you can locate those mobs.
May I suggest doing an item search for whatever type of silk you are looking for. The Alla item tools will give you the droprates and basic locations of all the mobs that drop the different types of spider silk.

The answer is depending on type of silk you want to farm as different areas or levels have different drops.
The normal low level spiders silk drops best i found around the shrine in Ashenvale , around the shrine there even a high level player would not easily run out of spiders around there.

If you are a miner, the cave just inside Wetlands (from the south) is full of spiders and mining nodes. There's also a mini-boss spider in there that drops a pretty good shield. Empty your bags before you go, and you'll make a nice 5g run full of spider parts, silk and ore.
If you're looking for plain old Spider's silk, I've found that the spiders in Arathi highlands seem to have the best drop rate. Problem being they aren't real densely populated, so you'll do a lot of running around and you'll be taking on raptors the entire time as well.

It's called incendicite ore, its a quest item for a quest that starts with one of the pilots at Steelgrill's Depot outside Kharanos. It will give skill points, from somewhere around 80 to somewhere around 125 - the tin zone that's kind of difficult to get through. And there are a few tin veins in that cave which are on two different spawn timers.
