I'm kind of embarrassed to ask this given that I have a level 300 enchanter. Anyway.

I need to get two mongoose enchants on my new weapons. On my server the mats run around 600g. If I am supplying the mats, can the entire enchant be done through the trade window, or do i need to actually give the mats to the enchanter first (giving them an opportunity to "thanks for the mats" /ignore.)

Sorry, The enchanter must have the mats before your weapon can be done. Only thing to help prevent a scam is to chat to the other player saying what you are giving to him and for what including the tip or any othe detail. If the scam occurs, Do nothing, just open a ticket for a GM. They have a record of everything every player has done for a certain period of time. So if the other player get all these mats for nothing, He is busted.

I got a subtlety enchant on my cloak last night.

I had to fork over 8 Primal shadows, and a few small shards and Essences, but the shadows were what hurt.

Before trading I told him "So I'll give you the mats for [Subtlety] and 20g, and in return you'll apply that enchant on my [link to my cloak], right?"
When he said "Right" I got a print screen of the conversation, and then traded him mats and gold.

If he chose to scam me, I had all the proof I needed and could get a GM to restore my items for me.

If you're really worried about being scammed, Armory them before you trade anything. This is assuming the Armory is up, of course.
