It's time for my little gnome lock to choose which course he's gunna follow into mastery. Can anyone go over the advantages/disadvantages of gnome vs goblin advanced training? Obv there's the remote location of the goblin trainers, etc... But what else, anyone?

Check this site's engineering section (Game Info --- Professions --- Primary --- Engineering) and look at the bottom, at the unique BoP or Goblin/Gnomish required items each can make. Once you see those, pick.

Personally, I like the fact that Goblin has more unique items. However, it's up to you. Again, check the list, and decide.

I'm a goblin engy on my hunter but I do kind of regret not going Gnomish. IMO the Rocket launcher/ Gnomish chicken thing both give +45 stam and are meant to be used in PVP, not raids and such. Pre BC, the sides were greatly differenciated and you could make different items at the peak of engineering but Post BC (and the only useful things about the specialization) are the Dimensional Rippers and the Ultrasafe Teleporters.

Atm, Gnomish engineering is more useful because their teleporters take you to either Toshley's station, which is close to Gruul's (and a short trip to TK) and Gadgetstan which is close to COT instances. Goblin Dimensional Rippers take you to Area 52 which is close to Gruul's/TK and Everlook which is close to ... nothing -_-.

So atm, based on post BC developments and inventions, gnomish engineering seems to have more utility.

It really doesn't make much difference (the primary reason everyone levels engineering is for epic goggles and repair bots, and they're the same for both types of engineering)...

Things to look at: Goblin Rocket Launcher vs. Gnomish Poultryizer(sp?) and I guess the teleporters (I personally haven't spent money making a teleporter yet).

Most of the other items can be traded, so for example my Goblin Engineer has a Nigh-Invulnerability belt even though its a Gnome recipe.

As far as the Goblin trainer being in a remote location, don't expect to have to go there too many times (I basically only went to do the quest and then to get the Goblin Rocket Launcher recipe).

Goblin engineering is DPS oriented while gnome is more defensive/utility oriented.

Since you're a warlock, you might want to go gnome since you'll be able to make some toys that will suppliment your class' weak points and due to the fact that locks really don't need much help when it comes to DPS.

There's some links with details to help you decide.
