Primals/Motes - Relative ValueFollow

Realms and special situations aside, can anyone give me the relative value of each.

So, for example: Fire > Mana > Life > Earth... Etc...

I'm getting one of my professions to 375. I'm trying to figure out what Primals I'll be using and see if there is a way to make a relative profit on them.

So - If I end up needing Primal Earths, (I assume these are relatively low because I seem to have a lot of them all the time) - it might be wise for me to farm Primal Life (using my example above) if Life sells better than Earth AND I have easy access to Primal Lifes...

Any advise - What's the generally accepted Relative Value?

Earth tends to be much lower than the others due to its high drop rate from the common activity of mining. Mana took a real plunge because of the Mana Cell daily quest that gives Shattered Sun supplies--ie a chance at a badge of heroism--and requires you to kill a bunch of mana mote dropping beasts. The other four vary by server and by week, but all hover pretty high. Primal Air is probably the highest, particularly if there aren't many engineers cruising Nagrand on your server.

What's your profession?

Earth is cheapest due to being a common drop for miners - seems to hover between 3-6g on my server but every once in a while it'll shoot up to 10g.

I'm surprised that life isn't cheaper considering how easy and profitable it is to farm for herbalists - doesn't take any time at all in Zag farming those giants to amass a bunch of life, plus, just picking flowers on a regular basis usually gives me two a day.

Water is another thing that should be cheap but isn't - again, its easy as all heck to farm plus it can be xmuted from earth, yet its almost never less then 25 on my server and it just hit 40g this week. O_o

Mana, as noted, is cheap and easy thanks to doing the SSO dailies.

That really just leaves fire and air, both of which are a real SOB to farm (with air probably being the worst in my XP).

On my server:
Primals-
Fire: 25-30g
Mana: 20g
Life: 15-18g
Earth: 2-4g
Air: 18g
Water: 16-18g
Might: 80-90g

Generally Motes are 1/10th cost of the primal, if sold seperatly - 1/5 is possible. Basically selling 10 motes individually for 1/5th cost of their primal will yield double money for same item(bonus!)

The other side of the equation of supply and demand is also a factor.

For instance, Primal Shadow is quite a rare drop, and it is used in 65 different things, therefore the cost is high. As one of these things is the Deathfrost enchant, the enchant de jour, the price rises even more.
An earlier poster questioned the cost of primal life and why it is so high while being quite common, this could be explained by its use in 73 recipes, including the 3 "go to" healing enchants.

And the fact that it needs to be "herbed" from bog lords, basically leaving the prices to the herbalist and the mood he/she is in?

Nah - the life is easy - my alch scores an easy primal a day just doing the Shat quest - if I pick every flower I see then its more like 2+. As for working the boglords, peh, those guys where easy back when they gave XP and I did an easy level just killing them to max my Spore rep in order to buy Earth to Water xmute and my NC pet.

Primals are highly expensive on my server.

Earth: 7-8g
Fire: 25-30g
Mana: 20g
Life: 25-30g
Air: 30g
Water: 30-35g
Might: 100-110g

On my alchemist, I took the time to grind out sporregar rep, once revered you can get transmute primal earth to primal water. I make around 25-30g daily from that.

So if you take a few days farming bog lords for primal life, you could easily hit revered and obtain the transmute too if your an herb/alchemist.

IN a few days of using the transmute I also lucked out and discovered 3 other items. 2 other less useful transmutes and a flask of relentless assault. Which of course is only luck based.

The easiest way to farm motes of life is to get a pally tank, a warlock who loves to seed of corruption and hellfire, and one or two healers. One of them must be an herbalist. Fly to zangar and start rounding up the giants. I've done this countless times getting the primal life for my +healing enchants and we can average around 20 primals an hour. It's good for the sporregar rep, and just vendoring the trash items can net you up to around 50 gold.

This is something that is almost entirely based on realm economics.

Mines works out to be:

Fire > Shadow > Life > Water > Air> Mana > Earth. Granted the top 6 all hover around 25-30g a primal, Fire can hit 40 some days. Earth is consistently less than 6-7g.

Farming lifes is amazing if you can solo the 71 elites at skettis.
