Hey guys, I can't find the topic where a guy linked to a way to earn money through Auctioneer and Enchantrix. Would love to use it on my new Hordie on Stormscale. If you can recognize this, please link it!

The original article is way out of date. I'm in the process of writing a comprehensive guide to making money by disenchanting for the wiki. It will be done in a few days.

I'm prety far along on the guide. It can be found here. Please do not edit it just yet, since I'm still working on it. Comments are welcome.

Mike, are you only going to cover Enchantrix disenchanting? There were some tips in here last week about buying off limited supply vendors (or other vendors as well) to disenchant that can be added to make some extra cash at no real cost. Other than that, looks really good :)

If you can give me a link, I'll put it into Advanced Techniques. I was going to put in a few of my own in there (having gone through that horrible period post TBC when Enchantrix was broken). But to answer your question, the main thrust of the guide is about using Auctioneer/Enchantrix to make yourself rich.

OK.... I have a very paranoid question--lol.

I have been following the great advice of Ohmikeghod and since I started using Auctioneer a week and a half ago, I have made a fortune DEing and reselling mats on the AH. I have made so much profit doing this that it feels "illegal". Utilizing Auctioneer is completely legal in Blizzards eyes?

My boyfriend keeps teasing me that I'm cheating the system using these tactics as it is so easy to make money this way--lol.

So.... honest question... This system and Auctioneer are 100% legit in Blizzards eyes? I have 2 new lvl 70 character, and now 2 shiny new epic flyers due to your system and would cry if I lost my account over "exploiting the system" or some such thing as I have heard people say before. I know I could be being completely paranoid and a total dork.... but I just wanted to cover all my bases before I continued to bath in my daily gold;-)

Thanks!

and please refrain from making fun of me if I'm just being stupid:p

Auctioneer is 100% legit. If Blizz thought it was illegal, they would change the UI language to prevent Auctioneer from working.

Is it an exploit? I don't think so. Since everyone has access to Auctioneer, it's a level playing ground where anyone can use it to their benefit.

I'm not saying I think it is... I'm just saying that I've seen some say that they have had their accounts banned before for some sort of AH exploits... however when asked I have never seen them clarify what exact actions they were banned for. I just wanted to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong... because it seems too good to be true--lol.

Let me just say---Thank you so much for all your great advice! I really mean that. While obviously not directed to me, I have taken much of it while lurking these boards and I have a true appreciation for your points of view.

And on the specific subject of utilizing the Enchanting profession as a gathering profession rather than a service profession... it was a welcome paradigm shift:-)

Oh, that!

Don't worry, anyone who says he got banned for using Auctioneer, Enchantrix, QuestHelper, or any other popular but very useful addon is talking out of his *****

He obviously botted or bought or sold gold (or arena points recently) and when he got caught he blamed everything EXCEPT what he knew he had done wrong.

Blizzard doesn't ban for misuse of addons written in their own LUA, they just change the LUA to make similar addons impossible.
Case in point, they changed their LUA so that the old Decursive doesn't work anymore.

To be sure that the addons you're using are 'legit', don't use any addon that comes in an executable form. Only use addons that work automatically once you drop them into the regular addons folder.

Great wiki guide Ohmikeghod! Thanks!

Following the wiki, set limits low to start (5g?) and the rest. My issue is the slow sells of low level mats. Does this happen alot or just certain realms?
I have been re-posting as it costs nothing, just thinking of better methods. My first batch spend about 120G and gotten 25-30 back. Can I raise the min Dis-ench level to find the better mats?
I only have 500g to play with, as this is my main in this realm (45 priest). Thanks for the help, Mike you are awesome, but you knew that.

500 gold is plenty to get started with, in fact you can use much less than that if you want. If I remember correctly (it's been a while) I started off my DE alt career with less than 10 gold. It took a little while to get going, but I just worked my way up the ladder selling Strange Dust and up. Slow and steady gets the job done. Of course, if you start with more, you can start on the higher level mats right away.

The big key to the whole process is learning your server's market. Once you have a handle on the normal prices and the fluctuations that it undergoes, you're all set. It may take some time to really learn it, but it is well worth the effort. You also have to watch the market for greens/blues and know the price point for buying or not buying to disenchant.

The other key is not being afraid to invest big chunks of money at a time. Once you get rolling, you can easily have a couple hundred gold worth of mats on the AH and be purchasing a couple hundred gold worth of greens/blues at a time to disenchant. Other times, you may have to sit on stock while the undercutters do their thing. Don't be impatient and look for the quick buck. If you know your server prices and the current price is massively undercutting the normal price, then just wait it out. Don't get into the undercutting game with the idiots.

Also, keep in mind that things vary quite a bit server to server. For example, I just transferred servers. On the old server, Arcane Dust (AD) would regularly sell for 1.5-2.0 gold per unit and most times there would be about 50-75 total auctions of AD up. On the new server, AD is going for 1.05-1.2 gold and there are 150-175 AD auctions up most times. It's a bit of a pain in the behind. I can't rely on AD for the easy sell it always was on my old server.

Anyway, good luck.

That's how I made my first mount money. This toon has always been tailor/ench and made brown robes from linen drops and sold Strange for 2g per stack. not any more. I will look at what sells/and or what is harder to get.

If I set minimum level to 100, it will find the higher higher items I need to get the better mats.

I normally have around 1000g worth of mats up on AH and about 250 green items with my active bids on them. I've bought 5 epic flyers (me and my son), donated thousands to the guild bank, and have enough for my next epic flyer when I decide to get another toon to 70.

I'm kind of in maintenance mode at this point. I bid and auto-de by clicking yes as fast as I can. I open all on the mailbox and batch post everything with one click. As long as I see an extra thousand in my bag every so often, I simply don't worry about it and hardly see what I'm buying. It is fun to get whispers from crafters asking about what I'm gonna do with all their stuff I bought.

You are bidding on items? The wiki says to buy, not bid. I guess it would work also, as I can tell from your post. I only have 600 gold to pay with so I am not sure. I do know it works, my bank is bigger and I have more mats to sell. I am also skimming off the good stuff to level and do chants for guildies ( all 3 of us). Glad the market is still open and not over worked so far.

I still buy, but I bid some items also. If you aren't bidding, check out this thread on using Bottom Scanner:

You can increase your profit by buying when you can, and bidding where the buy price is too high. I can't imagine going back to the old way of doing it and not having any bids in.

Thanks for that link, just a little different and can be added ways to find goodies, all the rest match Mike's Wiki. Hope we can link both somewhere and have that information on every realm, except mine of course Smiley: smile
