Favorite city to play the AHFollow

What's your favorite city to do your Auction House business?

I've never played Alliance, so I can't comment on them, but I prefer Silvermoon City on Horde. On my server, it's relatively empty which is good, but the I love the fact that there's a mailbox right outside the AH. Actually, there's tons of mailboxes all over the place! The one between the bank and inn is another favorite.

My least favorite is UC - way too many stairs and turns to get where you need to go. Plus, I always go up the wrong stairway to get to the (only) mailbox.

Org and TB are about the same to me. The AH/bank/mailbox are nicely located, but not as well as SMC. TB is less crowded, but Org's bank tellers are spread out better and has an extra guild vault access point.

It seems the designers really looked to improve the layout when creating the new city. I'm wondering, is it the same with the allys?

yeah, I quite enjoy the areas of IF, SW and Exodar.

I haven't been in Darnassus in a while, but last I remember the mailbox is quite a ways from the AH, so is the bank.

But with SW, IF and Exodar the bank, mailboxes, and AH are all close to each other.

You know I like silvermoon too. The eastern AH (Silvermoon has two) is really close to a mailbox and the bank.

I prefer SW. The bank and mailbox is practically right outside the AH.

Darnassus is definitely the worst of the alliance cities. To get from the bank to the AH you have to either swim across the pond or go around to one of the bridges.

For Horde, I prefer Orgrimmar. The mailbox is fairly close to the AH, but that's not the real reason for choosing Org. It's the fact that Org makes travel easy. The zepellin is right outside, and the gryphon mount is only a short distance from the AH/bank.

For Alliance, I like IF mainly for the distance between the mailbox and the AH.

IF is my favorite, and its not simply that the AH and bank are so close, with a mailbox near the bank. The other thing is that all the profession trainers and the General and Trade NPCs are close by. I use my bank toon to do all my major city transactions, including purchasing certain "rare" items sold by the profession "suppliers" located at the trainers, and the Trade NPC.

It's also my favorite place for powerleveling, as everything is so close together, including the forge and anvil. I've powerleveled first aid, blacksmithing, engineering, and enchanting there. Stormwind sux for powerleveling as everything is so far apart.

Having said that, IF still doesn't feel comfortable to me, as my bank toon is a Night Elf and originally was in Darnassus, which is clearly the least convenient.

Not only are the banks and mailbox right next to each other in Thunder Bluff, and the AH just a trot away, the Forge is right next to the AH, which is great for miners and jewelcrafters. My Large Prismatic Shard business would be much more time consuming anywhere else.

Agreed with TB. Low population so no lag issues if the connection's iffy. Bank, mailbox, ah, vendors, forge and fishing hole all within a few paces.

For Alliance, been a while but I recall some good times learning the ropes in IF when I started out. Easy run back and forth between bank and AH. There was always too much lag in Stormwind and Darn...ugh.

I like exodar, not busy and shortest AH - Mailbox route.

I like UC just cause everything is real close together like the GB, bank, Mailbox, and trainers. I also play mainly undead so I feel more at home there.

I prefer Darnassus. Although the run from the AH to the mailbox/bank is longer than in IF, I find the relative emptiness of the city a nice change. It is rare that there will be more than 5 toons in front of the auctioneer when I am on. Also, I feel that Darn has the fewest "Port Plz"/"Water Plz" whispers when I am trying to get stuff done.

The eastern one or the western? I use the western one exclusively because the mailbox is attached to the outside wall of the AH.

The eastern AH is more traditional with a larger building you have to run into and a MB a bit farther away, IMO.

I really like the SMC AH in the Bazaar area (I think that is the eastern one) because the AH is open on four sides and a mailbox is just outside one of the entrances. The only real drawbacks to using SMC that I have noticed are (1) When the alliance comes knocking there are few to no 70s around to fend them off so they kill all the AH NPCs and (2) if someone is selling something in 2. trade they are usually in Org so if they are unwilling to COD it I have a long run (low level bank alt) to get to them.

When TBC first came out, I started to go to the Exodar for my AH stuff, because the Mailbox is right at the AH, and the bank is really close.

But since Quel Danas was released, I usually go to IF now. The mailbox is a bit further from the AH, but the AH/Bank are close together, and there's a 20 second flight to the new money-making capital of WoW.

Generally, my Alliance toons are in IF for all the reasons given above.

Blacksmiths (as in much else) have it tough. There are no really good places for them, where a forge is close to the AH and bank, for power levelling.

The best I can think of is Tanaris, where there are a bank and a forge close to each other.

I use Stormwind, mainly cause Its just a habit to to that portal, no other real reason.

/agree on UC - mailbox is north if you don't have your minimap set to rotate

Org is second least favorite only because its so busy and there's inevitably the gold/keylogger spammers parked in front of the bank.

TB is my hands down favorite - the bank, mailbox and AH are all within spitting distance of each other, plus there's a general goods merchant nearby as well as smithing facilities, a repair merchant, cooking fire, fishing hole and BG masters - if you stand in just the right spot and stretch hard enough you can touch everything with the tip of a staff or polearm. ;-)

As for Silvermoon - sorry - meh - my JC toon is the only one who intentionally goes back to that city - sorry. :-/

I've never had a horde character above level 20, so I can't really comment on them very well. Though, from what I have seen I would probably go with Silvermoon and Orgrimmar.

For my alliance characters they generally hang out in Ironforge once they hit level 70 as the bank/mailbox/AH are all right across from one another. Stormwind is second best, though I go there sometimes to mix up the scenery and music.

My bank/AH alt pretty much sits in Silvermoon. It's the least populated city from what I can see, at least around the eastern AH. As long as I stay far far away from the Inn I'm fine...

For me it's SW hands down. Bank and mailbox are close by, same distance as IF pretty much. But what makes it more appealing to me is that on my server it seems that most people hang out in SW when not in Shatt, so when you need something in the trade channel you usually can find that person in SW. Also it's closest to the dark portal and being a miner I love running through there and picking up Mithril and Thorium which sell like hot cakes! Darnassus is by the far the worst city to play AH, Mailbox is too far and if you go there while you're hearthstone is on cooldown it's gonna take you forever to get back to OL unless you find yourself a mage.

As Alliance, I like Ironforge the best. Stormwind is decent too, but I hail from the days when IF was THE city with the AH... and it carried over.

However, when doing BGs I like Exodar. It's just so exotic! And empty.

I'm with lemmiwinks on this one.

I tend to go to Darnassus primarily because there are not a lot of people there and it allows me to avoid gold sellers and impatient players just looking for a hand out. Plus, since I tend to browse the AH for a while, I'm not in too much of a rush to run back to the mailbox. Once I finish my business, I grab what I need, hearth, and go on my merry way until I need to vist again.

Not to mention it's purdy. X3

I'm Alliance and I prefer to use the Ironforge or Stormwind Auctions. Those are my favorite ones. My least favorite would be Darn hands down.

I made a level 1 bank Alt around the same time a gold spammer popped up in Northshire valley, so I /followed him for a free ride to SW, it was a lovely walk. Ive also made a NE hunter and one things certain, no gold spammer is gonna walk from Shadowglen to Darnassus.

Favorite Cities:
1. Ironforge - Power-leveling heaven
2. Stormwind - Short AH-Mailbox, first City ever walked into
3. Exodar - Short AH-Bank-Mailbox distances.
