I posted this on the paladin board, but maybe it should have been better posted here -

Many good answers on that post. The new goggles are amazing. Eng used to be about making fun items but with the last changes in the profession, not only is it fun, but it has some really nice items and it can make you money to boot. I did BS once and I wasn't impressed by it. in the long run, you will get more out of Eng than BS.

I'd switch if I were you. Besides the power and flexibility of having one T5 headpiece available for each of your specs at level 62, Engineering gives you options to cover class deficiencies.

For example, as a paladin you have few good options for pulling mobs at range. Engineering gives you grenades and the Goblin Rocket Launcher. You have no stealth. Engineering gives you the Invisibility trinket. You have no slow fall. Engineering gives you the parachute cloak. You have no speed boosts. Engineering gives you several rocket boots options. The cooldowns of these items limit their usefulness in many situations, but I've found many powerful uses for them in PVP.

Also, Engineering gives you a new gathering skill in Outlands, Zapthrottling. You can make an astonishing amount of money off the Windy Clouds in Nagrand, and the other mote clouds aren't bad. Blacksmithing is probably the worst skill for moneymaking.

I vote engineering. It's useful, it's interesting, and the ending goggles with the SSO are AMAZING. Weaponsmithing would be great as a Ret spec, as the Thunder family is an amazing Ret weapon, but if you're rerolling at the end... engineering.

Did I mention how fun it is? :D

it depends is this your main or alt? and is your main perhaps mining? My rogue is Mining with epic flyer so my alt Warrior is Engineering and blacksmithing.

Nope, this is my second alt. My main is alch/herbs. I have other toons that do gathering, including one other miner.

I may delay the switch to Engineering until such time as I switch to Holy.
