Hi,
I'm thinking of dropping engineering for enchanting.
I have some arcane dusts from disenchanting lvl 6x-70 greens, maybe around 1 full bank (the main window, not additional bags). Not much esle in stock.
So... I assume I would need to buy lots of greens / blues at the AH in order to powerlevel my enchanting from 0 to 375. And possibly to buy those terribly expensive shards and cristals.
Can anybody tell me how much it's going to cost me (not asking for a precise quote; just if it's going to be 500 gold, 1k, 2k, 3k, etc?).

If you just buy gear to level in a single bound, it will likely cost 1k gold as you'll clear the AH of cheap gear and need to start buying pricey stuff (oh and personally I'd avoid shards where possible).
If you can DE as you go, and level it over around 2 weeks minimum then you should be able to break even without too much hassle.
The table below shows what mats you need for 1-375 using the most economical recipes:
Total cost at my server prices is 780g on average.

What do you mean "DE as you go"? As I said, I'm lvl 70 and I don't have access to low level gear and I guess that I can't DE lvl 70 items as an apprentice enchanter, can I?
A friend advised me to clean low level dungeons like the prison, etc. to get the greens I need to level up enchanting. Is it what I should do?

If you have tons of money, then just buy the mats off the AH. Depending on your server, this could cost you upwards of 5k gold.
If you want to conserve money, then buy item off the AH to DE. This can save you about 50% of the above method (assuming you buy items that will DE into mats worth 2x what you paid), but takes longer.
If you want to conserve even more money, buy double the items to DE, sell half the mats, and use the other half to level your enchanting skill (assuming you buy items that will DE into mats worth 2x what you paid). In theory, you should be able to roughly break even.
Finally, if you want to go romping around in the old world, I put together a guide. You don't have to follow it for every specific step, but I think it can help you get to where you want to be without too much difficulty. This will take you the longest, but I found it was at least more interesting (compared to living at the AH).

You can normally make a 30%+ profit on disenchanting greens from the AH (low priced greens)
Your best bet it to use Auctioneer/Enchantrix and use the command

Funny thing - "break even" doesn't even come close. My latest disenchanter was at 150, and I put 200G into items on the AH. After I DE'd I was at 204 in enchanting. After I sold what I didn't use to level enchanting, I bought a few twink items, and still came out 100G ahead of where I started. (and she isn't even high enough level to get a horse yet).

Great list, but just wanted to point out that it's only going to take you to 300, not 375.

Just to debrief you after taking your good advise.
I followed the stickied guide (which is excellent). Just varied a tiny bit, using a formula using more white components and less green ones in the early levels based on what I could DE.
I must say I had lots of the white / green high end components since a friend of mine had been DEing my lvl 70 drops for a while (had 420 arcane dust and 70 greater planar essence, if this is the right name).
It took me about 6 hours and it cost me about 1k to powerlevel to 365 enchanting, where I decided to stop (I just needed 360 for my ring enchants).
All in all, it has been fun, quick and relatively cheap. Thanks to your good advise, thanks a lot.

Congratulations.
Gratz. I'm glad to hear that it worked out for you.
If you continue to disenchant for the materials necessary to get from 360-375, you'll manage the gap without touching your gold reserves. Just don't stop to figure out how much you'd have earned if you sold the mats instead of using them to skill up to cap.

I think that I'll get to 375 very easily and without spending a penny. Quite to the contrary.
I went to 365 just enchanting stuff for myself. And I still have several orange receipes that people want. I've just made the powerstrike (I think this is the name) gloves enchant and earned 10 gold on that enchant (which also gave me a skillup).
It looks like I'll be at 375 soon and without too much trouble. My only problem now is that I don't have any of the "sexy" enchant, like mongoose or + 20 agi.
But I'm not up for a crusade to get them. I'm doing heroic dungeons anyway for the badges, so I might get better enchants with some luck and, if not, I don't really care. All I really needed was:
1) 360 enchant (for my +2 weapon damage ring enchant)
2) being able to disenchant epic drops during heroic dungeons.
I can do both, I'm a happy man. Enchanting has been a blast so far and it seems it'll only get better and better.
