Humanoids in the 47-51 level range will have the best drop rates. The closer you get to level 50 mobs the more likely they are to start dropping Runcloth instead, or in addition to Mageweave. I like the Felsworn and the Jaedenar in Felwood. The Felsworn have the added benefit of dropping the occasional Felcloth as well. Also the Furbolgs in Felwood drop Mageweave and Runecloth. If you're looking for elites in instances try something in the mid to upper 40s range like Sunken Temple... For just grinding cloth gathering though, the faster you can kill the faster you gather more cloth obviously. ;)

Pirates and Trolls in Tanaris drop Mageweave pretty decent as well. Zul'farak is amazing for mageweave.

Jintha'Alor in The Hinterlands is also a good place for Mageweave. It is a lot like an instance but isn't one and there is no big bad elite boss. You also have to contend with others in the area. So if you are not 70 and can't solo ZF then this is the place to go.

If you want mageweave specifically for leveling tailoring, take a toon who can fish the northern coast of Tanaris and fish every pool you find. After doing that for about a month (maybe fishing for 2 hours about 3 or 4 times a week), I have two mails stuffed with 12 stacks each of bolts of mageweave that I have to keep bouncing between toons. I'm not exaggerating at all here. And I got about half that number of bolts of runecloth as well, plus a lot of greens and some heavy and rugged leather, plenty for my tailoring needs. (Edit: These items come from the Mithril-Bound Trunks that are fished up either randomly from pools or from Floating Wreckage pools.)

Another reason that route is rewarding is that one section of the coast has a lot of pirate tents where Solid Chests spawn, I got a lot of greens and metal bars from those. Just stay north of the area with giants and hostile turtles.

Jintha'Alor in Hinterlands is a very easy way to get many many stacks of Mageweave (if you are around lvl 50+). Plus, you'll get Wildvine to drop too.

If you aren't level 50+, then you can try the pirates around Booty Bay (STV). Lower drop rate (i.e. only 1 or 2 per mob), but that is what you'll have to settle for if you are lower level.

for mageweave cloth, one of my favorite places was the southern timbermaw camp near the new Fp they installed a few patches ago. (felwood)

Plus's...timbermaw rep for grinding. its a worthless old world faction, but while your killin mobs, why not grab a few free rep points while you are there.

detractions...lots of people will be mowing down those camps if they are grinding rep.
--if you need runecloth, move to the Northern Timermaw camp in Felwood...or farm BRD, easy to solo with most any class, and if you can DE while your in there, you can grab some LBS from the bosses.

Other good mageweave spots...lost rigger cove in Tarnaris. lots of mageweave, but you will get silk as well (trash, greens, ...ect)
lots of chest spawn points.
lots of groups wherre you can AOE 6-10 at a time.
decent respawn rate.
pirate foot lockers. these have the Lower. Middle and Upper map frags. fit them together get a quest to retreave a chest with 50-80silver, 2 greens and trash....best part of this quest-REPEATABLE. you can have as many completed treasure maps with you when you go for the quest that you can fill every slot with stuff and walk away with 20 odd gold in DE'ables, trash and silver....not a ton with dailies, but a nice added bonus...especially since the quest treasure chest is beyond far away in the WAY way WAY far south of Tarnaris.
----second item in the footlockers, Captins key...gaurenteed green and the cehst is inside the ship in lostrigger cove.

I like Jintha'lor in the Hinterlands best for grinding mageweave. If you're not at least in your mid 50s however that spot can be an aggro problem.

For toons in their high 40s or low 50s, I suggest grinding mageweave at the two troll 'forts' north of Jintha'lor but south of the river, the Shaol'watha area / Skulk Rock. Stand outside the forts and pick off the high 40s trolls surrounding it. You can stand on the north side of the forts, near the river, as there's no wolves or other wandering mobs to accidentally aggro there.

If your Alliance toon is in his low 40s, you can still grind mageweave in the Hinterlands, but the drop rate is low. The trolls at the first troll ruins east of Aeire Peak, named Zun'watha, drop a little mageweave.

Another vote for the southern Timbermaw camp. They have a fairly decent drop rate and as was mentioned earlier, you get reputation for every kill (more if you are near/same level as the mob). The rep gets you access to profession formulas, patterns, etc - I admit that the crafted equipment do not stand up to BC gear but the enchanting formulas (+15 agility to 1h and +25 agility to 2h) are still in high demand for the twink community.

I agree, Jintha'Alor is great for Mageweave and so is ZF, I love it when guildies need run throughs cause I sell that stuff at 12g a stack and usually come up on 4 or 5 stacks for an hour run, not too bad when my main purpose is to help out.
