(1) I am lvl 305 Fishing but was wondering where I should go to skill up? I am currently in Nagrand and Terrokar Forrest but am having a little trouble catching fish, I can get em sometimes but more often than not they get away.

(2) Does anyone know of a resource or chart out there that may list all the kinds of fish in the wonderful land of WOW ?

1. You can skill up everywhere you like: I suggest going to a low level area, low level area fish gives the same level upgrade than high level area fish. Or use a lore, you get some as reward from the daily fishing quest.

2. This is a nice site to check some fishes.

El's is probably the best site for fishing, I think.

If you're just looking to skill up, it's easiest to do it in a low level area, as it makes no difference in terms of number of catches it takes to skill up, and you will catch reliably in lower level areas.

At 305, I think with a good lure you will still miss a lot of catches in Terrokar and Nagrand, while you should have more luck in Zangarmarsh. The fish in Terrokar (some of them at least, like Golden Darters) are top level fish for buff food, and if I am remembering correctly didnt really reliably catch until around 330ish.

Mercifully, leveling fishing does not depend on a specific "body of water". You can sit in a capital city and fish all day to get from 1 to 375 - Switching to another area will not increase the leveling rate. However, it could be a detriment if you pick an area that is too high and the fish start getting away (Only "caught" fish count toward leveling).

If you would like to further add value to leveling fishing, ride around the Barrens oasis pools for deviate fish. There is always demand for those on the AH as the effects still give a lot of players a chuckle, including myself. You might scratch this plan if you play as Alliance on a PVP server.

Another alternative, is to fish off the Azshara coastline - You will catch fish used for the dreaded 275-300 cooking levels. Post what you catch on the AH for a couple of gold and it should sell fairly fast. It's definitely not the same "gold per hour" as farming primals but it's better than selling stacks of catfish and brilliant smallfish for copper.

Hope that helps.

Another great place is in the barens, catching deviate fish. Those always sell good, and are still very low level fish, and even better if you have the savory deviate delight recipe.

Go to Tanaris. There are enough pools there to keep your gold up while leveling your skill. If you really don't acre about gold, head for any newbie area. Where you fish doesn't matter - it's all about catching fish, not location.

I like the coast of Feralas, there are many pool spawns, and if you are high enough level to be in Outland, then the mobs on the coast should ignore you. The pools frequently are of Oily Blackmouth, Firefin Snapper and Stonescale Eel, all of which are of use in alchemy.

Only downside to this area is it's the utter boondocks, so when bags are full you will have to mail stuff to an alt (and mailboxes are quite far) or get back to somewhere where you can put stuff in your bank or on the AH (Gadgetzan probably nearest, but AH is neutral there, and underused).

I suggest Zangamarsh for leveling fishing up from 300 if your toon is in his low 60s. You'll need a lure to assure catching all fish, but the fish value there will be higher.

If your toon is lower level than that, you'll have to choose a zone where you're not attacked by roaming mobs. The Bay of Storms in Azshara has the best fishing loot in the old world and is doable for toons in their mid 50s. Just empty your bags before you go. Its a loooong trip to the nearest mailbox.
