I'm trying to get my cooking past 294 and it just ain't happening, I can't find any recipes that are orange or yellow. I have a couple that are green and even then yesterday I cooked 51 Bear Flanks and got absolutely nowhere, and I can't find the fish for the other one. No recipes or meat in the AH that are helpful at the moment. If anyone can point me in the right direction, to find training or recipes, I would appreciate it!!

Yeah, most of your options will still involve fishing. The recipes that are still orange/yellow are Baked Salmon (275), Lobster Stew (275) and Mightfish Steak (275). The later two fish can be fished from the Bay of Storms in Azshara, but it requires at least 300+ fishing to cast, and 400+ to catch most of your casts. There is apparently a quest for Smoked Desert Dumplings (285) in Slithus. The bear burger and kabob recipes go gray at 295. You won't need much fish though, since there are recipes at 300 from the Outlands

Easiest way without fishing:

Get this quest and follow it through, the dumplings should take you to 310 easily.

I actually did this quest last night (Smoked Desert Dumplings). I had managed to get my cooking to 289 off the bear flanks from Felwood.

The quest to get the recipe involves picking up a book from the Twilight camp nearest to the Cenarion Circle base. Depending on your level (I was on my 70 warlock), the most you will have to fight is 3-4 mobs. Then return the book to the Innkeeper and she will give you the recipe.

The difficult part is then gathering enough sandworm meat to take you to 300. The drop rate is not great, but as you need only six, it shouldn't take too long.

This is indeed the way to go. The dumplings should be orange to you all the way to 300. You could level up a bit more if you have extra worm meat on you, but once you do the quest in Outland and get the recipe for Buzzard Bites you’ll be able to level up much faster on those as the buzzard meat drops frequently and you need to kill them for another quest anyway. So save any buzzard meat you loot.

You can also buy the recipe for Ravager Dogs from the inn keeper in the first town in Outland, which also requires 300 cooking skill. Between the two recipes you should get a good boost to your cooking skill.

You may not be able to do this depending on level but I went to Dire Maul and got the Runn Tum Tuber Surprise from Pusillin. Loot the spores there and when the Tubers drop it's generally in 3 or 4's. Got me from 280 ish upto 304.

Is it just me or did it used to be possible to level cooking to 300 just with yellowtail? That's what I did on my hunter back in the day. Now I'm trying to level another toon to 300 and find yellowtail went grey at 275. I do NOT want to farm Silithus....

According to the comments on WoWHead they nerfed it in 2.3

Supposed to have fixed it with new bear meat recipes. I leveled my main to 375 and fishing is 1. Lots of green skillups but those are gone now.
