Hi. I was just wondering what professions would be good for my alts. My main is a Warlock and has Tailoring/Enchanting and I'm leveling up a Rogue and Priest and was just hoping on some feedback of your prefered choices for these 2 classes, any suggestions would be great. I was also thinking about the Primal Mooncloth set and was wondering if it was worth leveling tailoring for it

I'm not so good on rogues but I'll try to help with the priest.

It's pretty much an essential if you want to get anywhere, progression wise, easily. The new 2.4 chest is impressive for the non-tailors but I still prefer the PMC Robe and what with the set bonus and combined stats, plus not having to put up with second best gear in the shoulder and waist slots, I'd say PMC is definitely worth it. In addition you get the Whitemend Pants and Hood, which while you don't need to be a tailor to wear you'll be losing the set bonus without it. Now 2.4 has arrived you have more choices gear wise but I'd still say tailoring for a priest who wants to make the best of himself pre-T5 is essential.

As for your second this would depend on whether you want to make money or have another useful profession for your priest and/or what your rogue will be doing. Depends on what you expect your priest to be doing, if he's going to be a raid healer then Alchemy is a nice one you not only get to make pots but you get a useful trinket... yes you could probably make more money from a gathering profession/skinning and buy the pots and make a profit over alchemy, but to be honest the Redeemer's Alchemist Stone (2.4) has such an excellent amount of +healing coupled with an on spellcast proc and better returns from mana and health pots that it'd be a tough call.

The main problem with taking Alchemy as I see it is it means either you make your rogue take Herbalism or spending a fortune on herbs to level it and ultimately you'd end up taking it for one trinket. I went Alchemy/Tailoring on my priest - dropping Herbalism once I'd levelled Alchemy, I considered dropping Alchemy altogether a few months ago but I'm glad I stuck with it now. :)

priest -enchanting and tailoring (or alchemy and tailoring seeing as your main already has enchanting)
rogue leatherworking and engineering

That said, I almost always give my low-level alts 2 gathering professions (disenchanting counts). Then you can use that to make money and mats and (when the toon is 60 or so) power level up a profession to make higher level and BoP items.

So, starting professions I suggest are (dis)enchanting and herbalism for the priest and mining and skinning for the rogue.

For the rogue engineering or leatherworking would be equally great.

On the priest I'd suggest alchemy/herb or tailoring and a gathering skill.

It all depends if you intend to spend gold to level a trade on your alts , If you do then pick something you can use end game ....

if you want to level a trade and do the gathering as you go then either skinning/leatherworking on the rogue , or herbs/alchemy as some nice buffs in alchemy for rogues and mining/engineering on the priest , Reasons are rogue gets dam nice armour all the way to 70 which your main can enchant or the buffs from alchemy and your priest gets the joy of much extra damage at a reasonable cost as the robots and explosives are like having a pet to do extra damage , The herb/alchemy is also good for a priest..

if you want to just farm with them go either skinning/mining or skinning/herbs as both ways you only use one tracker and can make very good amounts of gold, for example even at level 10 i can almost always make 5g for an hours farming/questing

I love rogues with engineering. When they can FD, and then rez...it's the best!!! Saves parties from long spirit walks.

Bad post. plz ignore.

he probably meant Rogues can vanish, then use the cables to try to save from a wipe.

Since patch 2.5......lol. OK, maybe not.

I just finished up playing with a Hunter & Rogue - mixed them up.

I'll edit my post to prevent any confusion...

lol no problem. I figured you probably meant a hunter or meant vanish. But definitely great to be able to vanish and then jumper cable someone back to life...

Would suck if you used the jumper cables on someone other than the healer (if the healer is a rezzer)... lol

Update,

Went Alchemy/Herb on Rogue, Tailoring/Alchemy on Priest.. We need potions/elixirs like crazy in my guild and I think that a priest potions spec'd and rogue elixirs spec'd could benefit the guild more than just another Alt. Thanks for all of your advice.

That's a good idea. I like that set-up.

You'll also be able to pull in some good gold/day with 2 transmutes a day as well.

I like it.

Change of plans, my guild has run into a shortage of tanks, and I've decided to put my warlock on the shelf and level up a Warrior, what professions do warriors tend to go with when leveling? End-game? PvP? Thanks.

Profession Choices for a Prot Warriort
Engineering/Mining - Goggles/Mote Extractor
Jewelcrafting/Mining - Prospecting
Blacksmithing/Mining - Epic Weapons/Armor
Inscription(WotLK)/Mining - Unknown benefits

What did you get when you got your warrior to 70?

Prot warrior.....that's tough. There are no real "Gotta have" profs. Each one can only give you 1 or 2 items.

Leveling a prof for 1 or 2 BoPs...not sure if it's worth it. There are no really awesome BoP sets like tailoring has for squishy toons.

If your guild still needs pots (and a warrior will need many of them), then maybe you should go Herb/Alch.

My bad, it seems I got you confused. I am still leveling my priest and rogue, in addition to the warrior so for professions right now I have.

Warlock • Tailor/Enchanter
Rogue • Alchemy/Herb
Priest • Alchemy/Tailor
Warrior • ???/???

I think I would start with gathering and see how it goes. I know a main can supply money to PL any profession, so skinning your kills and mining while you go from quest to quest would give you mats as needed.

I would strongly suggest on your alts level gathering professions, and when you hit a higher level start with a crafting profession.

I did not follow that rule :)

Hunter - Alch/Herb
Shaman - Ench/Mining
Priest - Ench/Tail
Warlock - Mining/Jewel

I try to make all of my char's compliment each other -
My Priest has become my bank of old world enchanting items/supplies, tailoring for the heck of it.
My Shaman farms ore for my lock and has fancy chants to make money.
With my hunter its easy to farm herbs, so basically I supply all of my chars with my pots.
My lock is just a money pit, as a twink should be.

Im still trying to figure out a profession to go with mining once I hit Outland. What I'm still curious about is the professions you mighty warriors in outland took.
