extra pots in AlchemyFollow

#1 Feb 12 2008 at 9:32 PM Rating: Decent
Seems like a N00B problem, but when leveling a priest with herb/alch you make a lot of pots. I save most of them as they do not sell and are hardly used. My bank is full of stacks of pots. I guess I can just give them away, as they are not worth the cost of mailing to other alts even.

any other ideas?

if you are just going to give them away either really undercut on the market or vendor them...

What pots aren't selling for you? Seemed like when I was leveling my alch/herb I could always sell any stacks of pots that I made. The only exceptions were some of the more odd potions that would only give you like a 15 sec buff;don't remember the names and those were just some of the higher end ones.

So maybe it would help us if you said what types of potions you're making

Potions that restore health or mana DO sell. Try to put them at AH in weekends, when many players do battlegrounds and instances.

Weekends are good, so is Monday night into Tuesday morning when some of the really hardcore raiding guilds are gearing up for the weekly raids

Heck, you can undercut and sell them all on Tuesday. Anytime on Tuesday.

I will see, I am talking about minor health and minor mana. Only good for newb, they have no money. I saved the MHP to make LHP but now I can make heal pot, no use making the lesser. Who needs Holy pots? Maybe the dual heal/mana are ok. and the little str and def pots are good for alts. I will look on the AH again, then decide. Maybe trade pots for vials, or price of the vials.

I put my pots on AH cheap, so the lowbies can afford them. It is the same with most professions, have to make heaps of things for no profit; blacksmithing is the pits, as is leatherworking.

These pots barely sell, since twinks can't use them. Really though, on my server the herbs to make these pots sell for 20-40 silver a stack, meaning the pots aren't going to be worth very much at all. Also, at low levels you usually pick up these pots just as fast as you use them(especially if you're new to the game and never think about them), so they aren't worth the vials they are in.

Instead of selling the pots, use them. Crafting professions are not for making golds, they are for self-sufficiency. As a priest, you should be able to keep questing so long as you have mana, so keep popping those mana pots as you go. If you run out, pop health pots and heal/bubble a little less often.

If you want golds? Drop alchemy and pick up skinning/mining. You can always pick up alchemy again when you're higher level.

Great advice, and something I'm doing with my second priest. My first priest (29 undead Shadow) is leveling alchemy very well, and the higher level potions are selling very well. The second priest (9 human) has herb/alch and I will drop alchemy and pick up skinning, as leathers sell very well on my server. That way, I'll still have a high level herbal (and sell the herbs) if I want to gather and power level alchemy when I get higher.

I have feeling both ways, I hate to lose money trying to sell pots on the AH. Money is not a problem, as my main is doing fine in Outlands. I also have all the professions covered on many alts. This is my only alchemist so getting him to 300 is pretty important. I will stand in Goldshire and hand them out, maybe more people will start using pots and in the long run be a new market.
