I have started a new undead warlock and have picked up skinning and mining. Skinning is ripping along at one skill lvl per beasty I skin (as you would expect). Mining, however is being a sod and I can sometimes grab four or five pieces of ore before my skill lvl will go up one.

I am sitting at about 14/75, though I have picked up more than 30 pieces of ore. Copper is still orange to me and in my past experiences that has given me 1 skill lvl for each piece of ore I mined.

Any thoughts on wtf is going on or any ideas on what to do to fix it? I am at the point of dropping it and starting up with herbalism.

Smelting!!

I remember getting a skillup for every ore mined too, now it's mostly got by smelting. You cant smelt all the way to 375 though, smelting ore turns grey by the time you hit tin I think. It might be iron, but once at iron you have to get skill ups by actually mining and yes it is a pita to do.

I'm thinking of going herbalism personally, just because I've read it is the easiest to level and because I haven't gotten it past 20 lol.

You only get a skill up point the first time you strike a node, everything beyond that is just loot. The only way to get another point is to find another node.
