Gnomish Transporter ...Evil Twin???Follow

#1 Feb 07 2008 at 3:04 PM Rating: Decent
I just used my gnomish ultrasafe transporter trinket for the first time, and when I arrived at Gadget, it said I had been replaced by my EVIL TWIN.

Now most people that know me would consider this a GOOD thing, but does it affect my gameplay in any way? All my reputations seem to be the same (I was hoping I could start a fight with some bruisers and damage my rep, but that doesn't seem to be possible...)

Seriously, ...is it anything, or just a prank buff?

From what I have gathered, these are the malfunctions I've coe across(I don't remember their names though)

Evil Twin does nothing except make people ask you "what's that evil twin debuff"?

Good Aura turns you gold

Evil Aura turns you blood red

"You feel more intelligent" shrinks you considerably(not as much as nogginfogger though, but my night elf was about the height of a dwarf)

"You feel huge" does in fact make you huge, so huge that my night elf, when /sit was taller than a dwarf.

There is one that malfunctions and kills you with fire damage, but you don't lose durability.

There is a malfunction that places you away from the teleporter, (the one for Area 52 puts you on a large rock just south of Area 52 that if you don't have a flying mount your boned).

Then another malfunction that turns you into the last race that used that transporter. This malfunction is glitched, Say for example you are turned into a female dwarf upon using the transporter. If you enter an instance you will change into another race, say a male tauren. Once you exit the instance you will turn back into the female dwarf. If you die you will turn into something else entirely.

I think that about covers all I've seen from the dimensional rippers.

It's a take-off on the Star Trek episode where Kirk goes through the transporter and is replaced by his evil twin. Possibly. Love all the references in this game and Blizz' humor.

There's one more malfunction . . the most irritating one . .
Gnomish transporter malfunction coming into Gadgetzan occasionally causes one to arrive suspended in mid-air a little way southwest of town. You fall and die every time unless you happen to have equipped the parachute cloak. I die from that fall about every fifth teleport. Either take all your armor off before using the Gadgetzan teleporter or carry around that parachute cloak and put it on before teleporting.

LOL - maybe that's a Star Wars reference then - always make sure to be cloaked before teleporting as one never knows what might be on the other end?

If you are a rogue and the Toshey Station transporter malfuctions, you will change races everytime you go into and out of stealth,,,,, my undead rogue went from Undead to BE to troll and "ding" tauren,,,, was a hoot to see what a tauren rogue looked like.

and the fall to your death malfunction from Gadget X-porter is always a PITA.

The change apparently does every time you change your classes version of a stance. Warriors change races when they change stances, rogues stealth. I have yet to see if it applies to auras for Paladins, probably not.

Then there's a malfuntion that turns you into a chicken for 3 minutes. During this period there's nothing you can do - except run around like a chicken.
Useful hint : don't run into any enemies during these 3 minutes, or they make you Kentucky Fried.

When under the Evil Twin debuff is the perfect time to get in some roleplaying, even if you're not on an RP server.

I've seen another transporter malfunction "you feel slightly different". My guildie a tauren druid spent half of the raid looking like a gimp dragon.

Once I ran into a blood elf paladin whose name was red (allies) who had just stepped off the transporter. I said in orcish "yes your butt does look bigger" (Spaceball reference) I doubt he understood anyway.

Personally I love the previous pattern. As a rogue, I found that I can change my pattern while the buff(or debuff) is active by just stealthing and unstealthing.
Also it got me a wonderful tauren rideing robot chicken picture.
