Thinking of taking up DISenchatingFollow

#1 Jan 29 2008 at 8:42 PM Rating: Decent
Like the title says

However I am almost 70 now, and wondering if it will be worth it to MAKE money from DEing.
So a few Q's first

I know this is a silly question, but what level enchanting does one need to acquire to DE all the way up to lvl 70 items?

Have people found disenchanting to be a profitable proffession? Or could you usually just make more selling the items on AH?

At Enchanting level 300 you can disenchant any item currently in the game.

As far as profit; disenchanting is arguably the most profitable way of making money in the game. If you play your cards right, you can really rake in the cash. There's plenty of guides around here, I think there's a link in the FAQ.

Enchanting is better if you still have plenty of quests left as the rewards will be soulbound and its annoying to have to vendor something that could be worth much more, this adds plenty more gold to quests that are already very lucrative at 70. As for dungeon blues their is usually someone in every party i group with that d/e's so we can roll for the shard.

I have friends who send me all their green BOES to d/e and return the mats (or thier value if i want them) so they can keep other professions, if you can find someone you trust to do this service then the only reason to pick enchanting becomes quest rewards and soloing old instances.

I only say this because since ive completed pretty much all the solo quests i can find, disenchanting has dropped in profit for me and i'm sure i could make more by mining. However that being said it has added plenty to my coffer whilst i was questing, i do prefer old instance runs for shards over grinding, (even if it is slower) and it is handy if nobody in your group can d/e in an instance.

Well, take it from this...

Level 15: Level 20 enchanting...

Guess what? I just made 10 gold!

So yeah, most profitable I'd say :P

Ps. if it sounded sarcastic, IT WASN'T

Extremely so. DEing quest rewards and drops is a good way to make money(AND make more room in your bags), but be careful with BOEs. Some items are worth more at the AH by just selling them(such as "Of the Bandit" items on my server, which are 15G a piece). Just watch out for posting prices.

Other than that, you're forgetting the most important aspect of DEing! The AH is your farm, so use it! People who don't DE will be selling those "of the spirit" gears for cheap, so buy them out and DE them for profit. Best bet is to just bid on them though, as bidding costs nothing, and you can gain the most from it. On my server, I usually go through the list up to lvl 65(lvl 225 enchanting on a lvl 21 alt) and bid on anything that will net me profit if DEd. You'll get quite a lot of bid returned to you, but you'll also get more than enough items to make you some good coin.

just go to 275 enchanting. you won't be able to DE level 70 epics, but i only do that on kara runs... as far as DEing for profit, level 70 epics Do Not Apply.

disenchanting is the most profitable gathering profession in game

i also make some nice margins making superior mana oil (requires enchanting 310 to make, though)
