Mining/Blacksmithing QuestionFollow

I can only seem to find Copper Veins in the areas that I can actually solo in. There are a few Tin Veins here and there but the majority are Copper. I'm talking about Westfall, Elwyn, Loch Modan, and parts of Redridge.

This presents a problem for my blacksmithing as I need Bronze or Silver to create anything that will level my BSing not to mention Copper is grey for me as well at this point so I don't get skill ups from that.

My BS is 105 and my mining is 103. I'm a level 17 human paladin on the Thrall server. Of course I can't use some of my BS items for a level or two but I like to have steady progress and not be stagnant like I am currently.

I've made some runs into areas like STV and up north towards Hillsbrad and there seems to be some Tin up there but I can't mine it cause the mobs agrro from about a mile away at that point.

So my questions are;

1. Am I unusally far into BS and mining at this level?
2. Is there anywhere that Tin shows up consistently that I can farm it that is my level?

For a paladin, BS isn't the best profession to lvl up on. I suggest engineering if you don't want to give up mining, or jewelcrafting.

I wouldn't say you are unusually far into mining, but you are ahead of the curve. Your best bet would be to gain a few levels. The general rule of thumb I go by for profession levels is my character level X 5. This is particularly true for gathering professions such as mining, skinning, and herbing, not to say it can't be done, but it is certainly a lot easier. As for determining where to find various ore nodes, I use this but the search feature here on Alla works pretty well also.

Thanks both of you.

Yeah I know BS isn't the best for leveling but I'm playing with a group of friends and thats the role I wanted to take. So far no money troubles or anything like that and I can make decent weapons for myself and the rogue and most of my mail armor that I make is better than the drops and most of the quest rewards at this point. Plus my friend is an enchanter so I make useless greens and give them to him like he does with his tailoring.

It all works in the end.

Thanks for the wowmap.

So why would mining or JC be better than BS for a pally? The weaponsmithing that you can specialize is makes some nice weapons

For tin, I suggest the Gold Coast Quarry and Dagger Hills in Westfall.. There's more in Duskwood but that would require your toon to be in the mid 20s or higher.

As a pally I would take engineering before blacksmithing. Engineering gives you access to ranged attacks which pally's don't have. The Linken boomerang quest is must for Pally's without engineering.

Crafting trade skills (Tailoring, Blacksmithing, Leather working, Jewel crafting, Engineering) are the sure and certain route to bankruptcy. Alchemy is marginal. Enchanting should be treated as a gathering skill - actually trying to sell enchants = poorhouse. I really don't care what neat-o items you can make, because if you can't sell them for more than the materials, you are dropping gold. If you really want a tradeskill, wait until you are high enough in level to actually benefit from the BoP items you can make for yourself.
