Nothing on the AH to DEFollow

Ok, so I think I stabbed myself in the back. A lot of my RL friends and family that play WoW on the same server as me were complaining that they couldn't make money. I bragged about how I had a level 22 alt that has bought my main both his mounts 10 minutes after he leveled. I even showed them how. Now I have 4 other people on my server that are doing the auctioneer/enchantrix scan, buy, DE and sell routine, and it is killing my lists. I used to log on to pull 120+ gold out of my mailbox. Now I am lucky to have 13 after 24 hours and my lists might have about 10 items in them if I can log on and scan when everyone else is away.

Any suggestions on how to get some more items to DE? I do have a LW main who is sending his skill up items to the alt and is netting me some nice mats now that he is making level 60+ gear.

My enchantrix line is percentless 50 and I have my min profit set to 50s.

That is the problem with the whole DEing for money aspect, my only advice would be to login at offtimes before your friends/family can get on to do it. Did you tell them about doing bidbroker as well? I tend to make most of my money off of this, actually. I can get quite a few 50+ items for a couple gold, DE them and sell the Eternals or Illusion dust and make some nice coin.

It would have happened eventually on your server. One of the signs of a maturing economy is having several DE specialists. If it is just your people, at least you can set up an agreement not to undercut each other.

My advice is to ratchet your game up another notch. For example, if you have a tailor/engineer/leatherworker, then there are items you can make from cheap AH purchases that you can then DE into valuable enchanting materials. Do a bit of research on your realm's crafting material prices and you'll find some possibilites there.

Alternately, try moving into Jewelcrafting now that you have some capital. A level 50 alt with 300 Jewelcrafting is poised to earn you amazing amounts of cash. Check your server's market first, of course.

It's like this on my server as well.

You could always play the other side of the field.
Start farming items for the other DE'ers to buy. Keep the prices just below what you would pay to DE the item.

Whenever it gets to this point on my server, I lower to percentless 45 (or even 40) and set my min profit to 5S.

It is good economic policy not to have your income completely reliant on one thing. For you, it has been buy greens, DE, and sell what you get. That would be the same as buy all raw gems on the AH, cut them, stick them back up. Eventually the raw gems would either dry up through competition, or the price of the raw would meet or exceed the cut price (which I have seen happen from time to time). Either way, if the market were to fluctuate at all, you'd find yourself up the creek. What you need to do is have an alternate way of bringing in money. If you're a tailor, sell specialty cloth and bags, if you're a miner, go farm, etc. Something else to where you're not 100% reliant on DEing. Eventually the market will stabilize and either others will stop DEing, or more greens will show up on the AH to meet the need of the DEers. Just start looking to diversify your income means a little bit and you'll find out that not only will you not be affected if greens dry up, but you'll actually make more money.

Thanks for the input guys.

I have found some alternative means, like I said, my main is skilling his LWing, so I got those items, and he has a lot of nice level 20ish blue items to make that are cheap and sell good. I can run WC in about an hour and net enough mats to make to belts worth 25ish gold each. That and being in outlands helps since outland greens don't sell well on my server but the mats always will.

You guys will never corner the DE market, but if I were you, I'd let them know that I'm not making the same money anymore from helping them out.

Don't go for a pity ploy, but try to get them to agree on predetermined prices for all DE mats. Don't make it a price ceiling, make it a floor. If the price of mats go above the floor, have everyone sell it at the highest price they can to maximize profits. If it goes below, tell everyone to hold off and not sell any less than the negotiated floor.

Of course, game theory would suggest that nobody will actually hold on to the price floor, but if these people are good enough to actually do it, at least you guys won't be all cutting each other's throats in the market.

I agree with changing your percentages (and don't give the new ones to your friends). I'll even go as low as 30% if my minimum profit is 2g. Try a few of the variations listed in the thread and see which works best for you.

Another thing to do is scan for items to bid on. If it's slow, I'll do a quick check of rare weapons and then armor between 65 and 70 (my preferred range), sorted by bid price. I'll bid on those on the top of the list with 3g or more profit. I then repeat the bidding process with uncommon items in the same range.

If you don't get the bid, who cares, you get your money back in that case. Obviously you could do this throughout all level ranges (it just depends on how much time you want to spend). Since enchantrix percentless is only giving you buyouts, there may be some opportunity with bids. Just expect to lose a high percentage of them.

Yea, I have noticed that a lot of the stuff on my list also has prices too high for the list, but the bid amount is at or below my buyout percentage. I have picked up quite a few extra items by bidding on the ones with too high of a buyout. Looks like I am going to eventually have to level up from 22 so that I can cap again. 225/225 will only let me DE items up to level 64, which is another reason I am sure that I am not making as much money as I could. Glad I held off leveling until the new XP changes went into effect.
