Where are good places to find Jewels such as Moss Agate and Lesser Moonstone? Also a good area for Iron ore?
Moss Agate and Lesser Moonstone both tend to come primarily from tin and silver veins. I have most often prospected them from tin ore, although on occasion I have prospected it from copper or iron.
I have had the most luck with iron in Thousand Needles, but you can check out MapWow for other iron nodes.

If you are looking for large quantities quickly, then AH is your best bet. Gems don't appear very often when Mining (although the drop rate appears to have grown since the 2.3 patch....but that might just be me).
If you are willing to spend time, then listen to Cochu. In addition, I've had good luck with Iron in Arathi. Run a loop around it, and you can get quite a bit. Badlands also worked really well.

The best way to do it is to figure out what ore you can MINE to get the jewels you want and prospect that ore. Such as... if you're looking for moss agate and find out that the best place to mine moss agate is tin veins, then prospect tin ore and you have a better chance of getting one. Actually be the miner AND prospect the ore you get and you double your chances at getting one. This is what I did to level my jewelcrafting.
