Kibler's BitsFollow

I'm a 70 Hunter with three pets ranging in levels from 65-70 (Scorpid, Cat, and Owl). I'm a 375 Cook and I just obtained the recipe for Kibler's Bits. I farmed a stack of Buzzard Meat, lit a fire, and made this tasty treat for my pets. I happened to have my Scorpid out, so I offered him one. "Your pet does not like that food." Hmmm ... I went to the Stablemaster, and pulled out the Owl ... same result. I tried with the Cat ... same thing ... "Your pet does not like that food."

Is this a bug? Have I made some error along the way? I assumed these Bits were "meat" and all my pets eat meat. Before I bother to drop one of my pets to experiment further--i.e., tame a Bear (who eats anything) or a Wolf (since this item's name makes me wonder if it's intended for canines)--can anyone shed some light on my predicament?
