Must Have Addon for GatheringFollow
Gatherer is a must have addon for the gathering fanatic. It shows what nodes you have mined, what herbs you have picked and it keeps them on your map and what the drop rate for certain things for the node or herb. It keeps track of nodes and herbs from other people that have the addon and are in your party or guild. It also keeps track of chests and chest drops. It is made by the same people as Auctioneer. I would recommend going to the official site or going Curse. Happy Farming.
I always thought my Cartographer had this option, but was never able to figure it out. As someone who's primary source of income is gathering (mining and skinning) I should seriously consider picking this up.

I use Cartographer + Gatherer addon together, it makes it very easy to farm.
Cartographer doesn't share the data though I believe. Gatherer marks where YOU have gathered and also where everyone else in your gear has gathered.
I had removed Cartographer from my list of addons because, since 2.2, it gave a lot of errors especially when guildmembers were in the same zone. However, I see a new version has just been released so I'll add it back in tonight.

Yeah, with gatherer you can mark nodes even if you can pick them. So if you are a miner, you can still right click on herbs and people in your guild and party will get that info (if they have gatherer as well).
There's also a saved database with Gatherer from Wowhead. Seems to work really fine for me, mostly accurate but sometimes a hair off.
