Can I skin a corpse before I loot it?Follow

Sometimes, I just want to skin a corpse without looting it. Is that possible?

No... You have to loot it before you can skin it. Nor can you skin other peoples' kills if they have not looted it or left anything in it.

Sorry :(

Hey this isn't a criticism more a question regarding why you'd not want someone skinning your kills. I've never had a skinner, always stuck to other stuff, but occasionally I see someone "following" me around and skinning my kills. Assuming you aren't farming the mobs you're killing then why not let them skin them, saves them killing mobs you need yourself for quests, items or whatever...

To spite the other faction? That's why I would do it. Besides, not like it's hard for this random Night Elf to go and kill his own mobs. I'm not about to let him reap the benefits of MY killing spree.

Sounds pretty petty making it so folks can't skin the corpses - no real justification for that unless you're on a pvp server.

As for the original poster - if folks are ninjaing your kills (ie/you loot it, then get attacked and some ally swoops in and skins it on you) then simply don't loot until you're safe and the area is clear enough that you'll be able to loot and skin without being mollested.

I have no problem with anyone skinning my kills... unless it's on one of my skinners. Then I give them a piece of my mind! Unless it's Alliance and then I just grin and bear it and try to get that skin in faster.

If I see someone leaving corpses left and right, I ask them if it's cool if I skin the mobs. I don't want to skin them if there's a party member that needs the skins who isn't immediately visible or something.

Following up on this, is there a way to auto-drop loot. (Trash the loot so to say.)

Well, yes, I do admit that leaving a corpse unlooted to prevent skinning IS petty... but that's just the sort of mood I'm usually in while playing (plus, my mindset is usually something along the lines of "well, you shouldn't have been Alliance, then").

Edit: I won't pretend to be some dude who's always a nice guy who's willing to share my happiness/killpower with those around me. I try to be CIVIL, but not always FRIENDLY. We've all done our petty things. This is one of mine.

on a pvp server, that person is your friend.

but the smart pvp-er thinks.

where has all the rum gone?

i mean creatures.

if it doesnt disadvantage you then i dont see why not. certain creatures in outland can be herbed and disapear like with skinning an animal.

and anyone who leaves loot just to spite the person deserves to die. And their family. As well as their friends and every person they've ever been friendly to or even looked at. And those people count as well.

by the law of six degrees of seperation i just annihalated the entire planet.

bet theres a curse somewhere out there to do that. I wonder how many 30-year old virgins it will take to set off.

wait...what was i talking about?

I dunno. I saw something about rum, and I needed a drink. I kinda forgot what you were saying too, once I came back from getting one.

I rarely, if ever have problems with other players trying to skin my corpses before I do. When I'm on one of my skinners, I skin a mob immediately after looting, before moving onto the next. If I see a trail of skinable corpses with no player in sight, I'll happily skin those. When I'm on my non-skinners, I have no problem with someone following me and skinning. (I only wish I could have 3 main professions!)

I'm on a PvE server, so I really don't care if the person skinning is Alliance or Horde. For that matter, I'm just as likely to buff a Horde player as another Alliance player, if I happen to see one run past.

Maybe it's cause I'm on a PvE server, or maybe I'm just a nice person, but I can't see any reason to deny someone else a little free skinning if I can't do it myself.

I have no problems with people skinning my kills if I am not on one of my skinners, although I /cry at all the dead bodies I am leaving behind to rot. I always make sure to ask if I come up on someone leaving kills in their wake. Have never had any one object.

Only time I ever had someone try to ninja my kill was when I was farming scales for a guildie's turtle scale set. Some druid came up and tried to skin the turtle we just killed. I told him to go get his own. He asked if we need them, then said he would leave if I would sell him a stack. I just told him we only needed a few more and we would leave and he never got in our way again.

I have a mod called Itemized Deductions for Titan bar. It lists all items of a certain quality and you can shift click it on the bar to auto destroy the item. It saves a lot of time digging through bags looking for stuff to drag and destroy. You can find it HERE

Or have a full inventory and don't want to drop anything.
