#1 Nov 07 2007 at 6:23 PM Rating: Decent
I am at 332 with my tailoring but I haven't got a second trade skill. Any suggestions for which one I should pick?

A money maker, unless you have gathering professions on your alts.

Mining,
Herbalism,
Disenchanting
Skinning.

All can make good money. If you were to take up enchanting for the disenchanting ability, you will be able to disenchant those greens you make with tailoring. However, you've already leveled past many of those greens, so that aspect isn't as great.

Mining, herbalism, and skinning are pretty strait forward. Sell all on the AH.

Since you already have tailoring so high I would go with mining or herbalism. Enchanting can make big cash but requires an investment to level. The very best stuff from skinning you can only get if you are a leatherworker. Ore and herbs are pure profit from the start and you gan get the best stuff each has to offer without relying on another skill. On my server you can make more money with low level ore than any other low level resource, but once the good stuff starts flowing either will make good money.

So is skinning. But you don't have to constantly search for nodes or plants and always have an eye on your mini-map.

Plus, with skinning, you can skin mobs other people kill. Talk about something for nothing! Yesterday I switched to skinning, and after I went back to the trainer to level past 75, there were a dozen dead beasts waiting for me as I left Thunder Bluff. And then I just trailed the pair as they went across teh countryside and skinned their discards.

Skinning can make money but there are a couple things about it that are a little annoying. You can't turn your scraps into anything more useful without leatherworking and the higher level leather,( heavy knothide-the highest priced raw leather) also requires LW. That is kind of a ripoff and I think skinners got a little shafted. It would be like requiring alchemy to harvest mana thistle. Now that there are mobs in OL that can be " skinned" with herbalism and mining, skinning is really losing ground as a pure moneymaker unless you have LW to get the most out of it.

wait a sec. Scraps can make money. I admit small money but check the vendor. Leather scraps sell for 7 copper each. 3 scraps make 1 light leather which sell for 15 copper each. True, leather on AH goes for 2 silver each, but you could find a buddy and split it 50/50. So you would be selling 3 scraps for 1 silver.
