OK, I dropped tailoring, now what?Follow

I just dropped tailoring (it just didn't have any allure for me, but, whatever).

I was thinking about picking up a gathering skill (my other is enchanting).

Should I go with skinning, mining or herbalism?

Keep in mind that I am level 61, so I'm looking for the one that will help me out the most in the 60-70 level range.

Mining makes good gold, I have taken Enchanting/Mining on several occasions.

Whatever gathering class you pick, you still need to go to the low lvl areas to lvl the prof. at least from those three that is.

But should you choose then mining is the one i like

I'm a Shaman.

I picked skinning, because it is something I could do in my travels and not have to look for nodes or plants on my map and not have to go to out of the way places just to find them.

I only played it for an hour, got it up to 100 or so and quit for the night, so it's no biggie if I drop it and pick up something else. I netted about 3g from the hides and leather and one green I auctioned. Not too bad for killing level 9 Plainstriders with my bare hands.

(On the plus side, I upped my Unarmed skill a bunch of points.)

Personally, I think skinning is an excellent choice. Like you said, there's no yellow dots on the map to chase, and quite often, you can get what we call "free leather!" In other words, you can skin what others kill and loot, which makes it ALOT faster to level.

At the higher levels, the thick clefthoof leather and heavy knothide leather sell almost instantly on my server, and for a good amount of gold.

Have fun and good luck!

Got up to 220 skinning last nite (from 82) in about an hour and a half.

I always thought if "Skinnable" was in orange, then you are pretty much guaranteed a skill-up point. However, it seems I'm only getting a point every other or every third skin.

If you were fishing you would need a lot more. It's just one of those skills you have to do more of. At least it doesn't cost you in mats.
