I'm not sure if this is common knowledge, but i don't recall seeing it in the macro guide. As i was farming yetis i wanted to know how much Thick Leather I had gotten so I was searching the internet for something i could use to keep track of all of it on my toolbar. At first I looked around on some of the macro sites and got impatient so i wondered if /use could be used for it even though thick leather has no /use ability. It did and coupled with the red question mark allows you to see how much of an item you have gotten.

Hope this helps

same here, but if you really need to have it on your toolbar then click and drag it onto an empty spot, a number will show you how much you have

I may have two suggestions...

1) FuBar has an addon (I don't know if it is updated tho) that track items you are farming. I never tried it, but I remember seeing that a while ago.

2) XLoot. XLoot by default is a replacement for your loot window. It has different addons you can put over it that gives you new features like a new roll window, a new master looter option (since I have never tried master looter as the leader, I can't say what it looks like =) and a loot tracking. Everytime something enter your bags, it lists it somewhere in your screen for a few seconds then it fades away. While displayed it shows the number of items you have in your bag. That may do something like you want. You may find it on WowAce.

Good luck!
