Tailoring v AlchemyFollow

#1 Oct 31 2007 at 3:45 PM Rating: Decent
I have a level 15 mage with lvl 89 alchemy and herbalism at lvl 100. I'm considering swapping alchemy for tailoring for the spellweave clothing at higher levels. I'm just not sure if this is a good way to go as the alchemy is leveling up quite nicely.

Some advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

It is really up to you. I personally picked two gathering professions (skinning + mining for me) until I hit 70 and had enough money for my flyer and more. After I bought my flier I saved up more money (around 1k gold -- I didn't keep extra cloth as i leveled... I should have) and bought my mats and lpower leveled my tailoring in 2 days from 1-375. If I were you, I would take two gathering professions and then take them to 70, you will have a very nice amount of money to buy everything you need, and then can save a good chunk of it. I would follow a tailoring powerleveling guide while you level and send the extra cloth that you have to a bank alt and just keep all the necessary amounts on him/her so that when you are ready to powerlevel the tailoring you just send over all of the cloth and level it right up.

I personally wouldn't change anything right now. You've already gotten your skills up to decent levels.

I wouldn't worry about tailoring until you're 70 (or really close to it). Tailoring is a money sink. On my server, potions and elixirs sell VERY well, and you should be able to make a very nice profit by selling both your created items and any surplus herbs you find.

Like the previous poster said, I would also send all your collected cloth to a bank alt for later use. You're going to need quite a bit of it to power level tailoring (especially mageweave, runecloth & netherweave) so the more you can save, the less money you'll have to spend

I had alchemy and herbalism until 70 and bit longer. Then I dropped herbalism for tailoring. I farmed all the mats above silk myself (and scryers rep to exalted along) and I got from 1-375 in 2 weeks.

I made all I wanted, FSW, spellstrike, battlecast and so on, I farmed and made almost all the mats with my 2 professions.
Right now I am only making earthstorm diamonds for sale and 20 slot bags for my hunter alt, occasionally I make piece of shadowcloth or spellcloth for sale if I get the mats while farming something else.

I am sorry for my herbalism every time I see a plant I cant pick anymore. But then I am sorry when I see node I cant mine too, or some corpse I cant skin.
I made enough gold to buy epic flyer on my main and powerlevel JC on my alt, and I am still making it.
Once you get to 70 there are lot of ways to make gold and you dont really need gathering profession. Until then you are better off if you stick with what you have.

Thanks everyone. I'll stick with what I have for now and bank all surplus cloth for later!

You also could just sell the cloth for now and save the bank space. At 70 it is easy to power level your tailoring.

If you do go tailoring at 70, you can simply move your herbalism over to a lower level alt. Eventually he can supply your alchemist.

there is no reason to have alchemy because of discoverys u should never have a problem finding someone to make u potions/elixirs for free with ur herbalism mats.
