Skining + Tailoring = Good Money Making Combo?Follow

#1 Oct 30 2007 at 5:39 PM Rating: Decent
I have just started a new character (currently a level 24 tauren druid) and chose skining (for its easy-to-level and easy-money-making known fame) and tailoring. I chose this last because I considered the bags made by the profession a good money making item to sell. However, I have read more threads about professions and have often seen that Herbalism is a very common profession among druids. Sooo....I just wandered if, considering I am not yet THAT advanced with my tailoring skill, I should drop it for herbalism. That is, if tailoring ends up not being a very good money-making profession. Finally I was just wandering... In the case I DID take herbalism instead of tailoring, how is it exactly that you make money with that prof? Simply by selling the herbs on AH or on the Trade channel...etc.

Yes, drop tailoring.

You make money selling the herbs at the AH. At your level, herbs start to sell ok.
However, mining generally sells better at the lower levels. Even copper bars sell.

So it's up to you. I would Drop the tailoring and do either mining or herbalism. Both are good.

I'd agree to drop tailoring and go with herbalism, especially since if I remember right Tauren's get like a +5 increase in their herbalism skill from the start, so you start out a little higher than most people, giving you a little bit of an edge.

Tailoring will make you a LOAD of cash at high levels if you get friendly with Cenarion Hold and you'll need herbing to really make it profitable. My huntress has made 100's of G's - maybe 1000's? - with this skill combination.

I would definitely drop the tailoring for herbing at this level. Expecially since you're not a clothie and won't be able to directly benefit from the items you make.

Tailoring is basically a "money sink" until the higher levels, but herbing should net you enough G's to easily be able to afford your regular and epic mounts when the time comes.

If for some reason you want to take tailoring again at the higher levels (as the previous poster said, you can make a great deal of gold with the right rep) tailoring is fairly easy to power level up to 350 or so. I'd just ship all the cloth you collect while leveling over to a bank alt or something so you don't have to spend TOO much of your hard earned cash when the time comes.
