Go grind/farm.

That last stretch of skillups in LW is a pain in the butt. No two ways about it. But, you don't have to spend any money on the AH to do it. It will, however, take multiple hours of farming. So, either dig into the wallet, or settle in for a lot of farming.

Yeah I'm one of those many people who DESPISE farming because every single time I'm in Nagrand farming for motes, there are about 6 other people doing the same thing, and 4 of them are usually the Alliance which doesn't make things easier. Farming for leather is a piece of cake, but motes? /wrists

This websitre lists the most efficent/least expensive way to get any skill up to 375. I have linked directly to the page of interest to a leatherworker -

I'm struggling through this as well. Fortunately, as a hunter I can use the Felstalker set so I was farming for myself. You can try farming the motes of air in SMV, along the SE ridge by the crystals and across from the island. The drop rate is a little worse, but it's less crowded than the plateau and there's more elementals to go around anyway.

Farming the clefthoof leather is just mind numbing drudgery. Though, always trying to be efficient, I'm using the time to stock up on their meat for my pet as well and leveling my weapon skills at the same time. So far Nagrand has nearly capped my dagger and axe skills and bumped my 2H swords over 300.

I liked lootable suggestion about getting the drums patterns. Very true - the mats are much less. But I'm wondering if the grind to exalted to save half the motes (2 for the drums vs. 4 for the FS bracers) is worth it. Looking over the other items available, MAYBE the Riftmaker from the KoT would be worth hitting exalted.

From talking with my guildies, and looking over recipes, most every crafting profession has the same problem since they all require primals - the bane of our existance.

My advice, suck it up and pay the gold. You're going to lose the money one way or another.

Don't delude yourself into thinking that you're saving yourself money by farming for mats, because you're not. The opportunity cost of using farmed mats is that you lose the gold you'd have made selling them on the AH. Or in the case of the riding crops, losing money twice when you farm for primal might matss instead of buying them.

I would actually say stick it out till 2.3

I have heard that there will be drum patterns available for rep, more specifically Drums of Speed and Restoration. They will be available from Nagrand Faction rep at revered. Also some rep needed for drum patterns are going to be lowered. This will make it a lot more easy / inexpensive to power level your leather working.

If that's true, it's awesome. However, in the time between now and when 2.3 goes live, he could grind out all the mats, level to 375, grind mats and craft his Primalstrike set, and level enchanting up to 300+ to actually make some money.

Yeah I want the primal strike set asap. I am in the process of farming for the clefthoof boots, as there are only 3 sets of materials I need to make one (I think...I forgot).....but again farming for motes of mana is a laborious process. I'm farming for them in Netherstorm by the Violet Tower. I believe in an hour I got 9 motes......9!!! The drop rate for them really sucks but If I don't wanna spend uber amounts of gold paying for the primals, I just gotta do this for now. It is what it is =(.

Thought I would not be lazy and actually quote where I got the stuff above. It is all in the link a few sections down:

http://wow.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=69;mid=119264603198763624;num=10;page=1

Drums of Speed and Drums of Restoration are no longer world drop recipes, and can now be obtained from the Mag'har and Kurenai faction vendors with revered standing.

and further down:

* Reduced the faction required to obtain Drums of Battle and Drums of Panic.
