I guess my question if for any tradeskill, but is there a reason to choose a specialty? I know that blacksmithing has some nice epic items both for armorsmiths and weaponsmiths, but is there a reason to specialize anything really? Doesn't the epic items you get from the various raids give better stats than those that are made by specialties?

Not necessarily. For example the Primal Mooncloth Set from the tailoring specialty rivals T4 or T5 gear. I believe the same can be said for the Frozen Shadoweave set for Shadowcloth tailoring.

I can't speak to all the specialties, but in the case of tailoring it works out to be better to specialize. In any case, I would think it would be better to craft your own items rather than be dependent on a random drop from an instance that you may or may not hae to roll someone for.

For some, like dps rogues, I still see them using their crafted weapons, and we've cleared everything up to Hyjal/BT, so it can last you a really long time.

The only reason I can see to specialize is if there's something within that specialty that you want to make. If not, like my main who's 350+ in engineering but hasn't chosen goblin or gnomish specialty, there's no reason to do it.

So... the teleporters, the +45 stamina trinkets, the extra damage or utility, that's not worth it to you? *boggle*
