Noob question about Light LeatherFollow

#1 Oct 27 2007 at 6:42 PM Rating: Decent
Greetings!

Which traders in a noob area (like near Stormwind) sell light leather?

No vendors sell leather, its skinned by players. Check the auction house

Dilbrt has it in a nutshell. Skin the low level wolfs and other beasts around SW and they will either drop light leather or the light leather scraps, which in turn are turned into light leather in bundles with the leatherworking skill.

And buy it now as (at least on my srever) the bottom has dropped out of the market. Price has gon from 1g per 20 to 40s per 20. Lost my *** on a bunch.
I bought it all up and the price never recovered.

If you have stacks of the stuff you can't sell, find a friendly leatherworker who can turn it into something that can be sold. He could get skill ups, and you could get something sellable.

Alternatively, break down your stacks of 20 into smaller stacks. Many blacksmiths and tailors need leather, but usually only a couple of pieces at a time. So they may be more disposed to buying a stack of (say) 3 light leathers than a stack of 20, even if the average price per piece is a HIGHER in the smaller stack.

This brings up a point. Never buy the lowest level stuff if you can create it yourself. Never buy it unless you actually need it. Trying to corner the market on light leather/copper ore/peacebloom is like herding cats. The moment you think you have a handle on the situation, someone out there will cut you out. You'll end up like Jeremy and lose your shirt. playing the AH (buy low, sell high) can make you lots of money if you choose the right things. Low-level mats are not it.

Hey now, I'm workin on it...But then I wasn't really trying to corner the market either. I merely saw a bunch going for about half of what I was previously selling it for. And it does seem to be creeping back up a small bit.

I'll give it another week before I totally dump it for a (hopefully) even break or not TOO much of a loss.

Jeremy, I think that you'll agree that "lost my shirt" is much better than "lost my ***". At least you can find another shirt on the AH, but running around looking for your nether end can be fruitless. You shoulda used superglue to keep it in place. :-D

Hopefully, you'll make your gold back. Look at it as a learning experience which won't be repeated.
