Fishing PoleFollow
Just need to know, what profession can make a superior fishing pole. The only thing I can find on AH is lvl 10, my fishing is currently up to 286, I need something much better. I checked and I know blacksmithing is the right profession, so that leaves engineering. Thanks for any help possible.
No professions make fishing poles, you can buy basic ones off vendors, but if you want better you have to do a quest (hinterlands for horde, shatt for both) or win the fishing tournament. There is also a fishing pole you can get from the traps off of desolace but I really don't recommend that because you can get better and that one will take you a lot of time to get.

There is also a very sweet fishing pole in Shattrath City. It is a quest from a little boy down in the lower city- I think in an Inn that is friendly to Aldor- and I think it counts for Aldor Rep. I am Scryer- but this fishing pole was well worth the little rep hit!

Ahh… the old Big Iron Fishing Pole. I’ve looted about twenty or so of those over the past three years. I’m rather sad to see them become obsolete. Opening up those traps made very good use of my deep dive helm. Oh well, that’s progress for ya.

They aren't obsolete. The Big Iron Fishing pole is still the best pole for those that aren't high enough to do the Shattrath pole quest. The Shatt pole is a quest reward and BoP.

Got one on the second trap I opened while questing in Desolace on my priest. I was doing the quest where you loot those traps to trade the lobsters for fish.

A good pole for lower levels. After that...
Horde characters can do a very simple quest in the Hinterlands to obtain [wowitem=19022]Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC-5000[/wowitem].
And there's always [wowitem=19970]the fishing tournament reward[/wowitem] that's slightly more challenging to obtain.

Challenging is an understatement. I’ve participated in that tournament on various characters since it was first introduced, well over 100 times by now. I’ve yet to win it. I have the various +5 fishing items on many of my characters, but I’ve yet to win a fishing pole or fish trinket.

If you did both the Hinterlands and Shattrath quests when you ddin't give a damn about fishing, then you got talked into fishing by someone (SETHY!) but you've already sold / disenchanted them...any way you can get them back, or am I stuck with 'ole Big Iron now?
(also - I'm fairly sure the Shattrath pole was only +20 anyway...am I right?)

Yeppers - the [wowitem=25978]Shatt pole[/wowitem]'s advantage is the stat boost, but for fishing skill, it's the same as Big Iron's.

I think your stuck with the BIFP, as both of those are quest rewards and you can’t repeat the quests.
Figured as much. Ah, well. I'm up to 230 fishing using it in a couple of days, so I guess it will do.
