I think we planned the mats to be around 500g in total once you complete the epic version, but I could be wrong on that. It's worth it though. I wish I had an engineer after getting to see it. Hands down, in my opinion, the best flying mount in the game.

Not that 500g is too much or too little, but it doesn't answer if an epic riding skill will be needed to enjoy our new apaches... er... yeah.

EDIT: Just had to include how freakishly awesome I think this is! Hooray for making an engineer out of my rogue! (think Night elves will fit in these things? or Tauren for that matter?)

You can even do upside down-stunts but I still wonder, how it looks like to move on the ground, due to the skis/vats. Does it hover over the ground all the time and landing is used for the sit-animation?

With all the space age stuff this is the best they could do?? these look like trash to me, it will be neat...but a more up to date looking item would please me more. something sleek and shiny.

Has anyone mentioned the rep requirement for making these flying machines? Well, sort of.

One of the items needed are 4 Elemental Seaforium Charges. To buy the schematic for these requires revered Consortium reputation. Hereâ€™s the link:

Now I assume we could buy these from the auction house. But that poses two problems. One is availability. Once news of these gets out, assuming the mats do not change when it goes live, Iâ€™m sure some engineers will try to make some cash from them on the AH. But will there be any when YOU need them? The other problem is price. I expect many who do sell these will try to bleed buyers for every drop of blood they can squeeze out.

Iâ€™ve decided to go ahead and farm the rep. I donâ€™t think itâ€™ll be that hard. Iâ€™m already half way through friendly. In addition Iâ€™ve been getting tons of cloth, stacks of silver and a good number of green drops. And my rep with Kurenai goes up by ten for each ogre I kill. Not a bad deal.

I just thought other should be aware of this in case they wanted to gain enough reuputation with the Consortium before the patch goes live.

I hope your right. I tend to be a pessimist when it comes to human nature. I fully expect to see the seaforium charges selling for 50+ gold each on the auction house. There is little reason to place them on the AH unless you know they are needed for the flyer. And since a rep schematic is needed for them, I fully expect people to try to sell them for outrageous prices. After all, it takes a level 70 character to use the mount and we all know that every level 70 character is rolling in gold. Those who can get them from friends or guild mates will be fine. But others in a hurry to make their mount might be forced to part with a small pile of gold.

Iâ€™m rather happy with farming the rep. Iâ€™m getting a decent amount of silver, tons of cloth and my second pet just hit 69 this morning. I also just reached honored with the Consortium. When I get home from work Iâ€™ll start collecting Zaxxis Insignia in Netherstorm to finish my run to revered.

I know two engineers on my server who are stockpiling Elemental Seaforium in order to sell stacks of four on the AH when 2.3 hits at "Small Egg at Christmas" prices. In preparation, they are doping Auctioneer by putting one charge up every day at crazy high prices.

Frankly, I think people would be better off offering a tip on /trade for people to craft their mats than grinding rep or shopping the AH if all you want is the four charges to make your flier. But if you're grinding the rep anyway, why not be your server's supplier?

Note that you can buy really cheap Elemental Blasting Powder in Area 52: 20s each, compared to the 1g+ mats cost of crafting them.

Blowing up would be interesting but I was thinking more of a, some kind of "Nitro" for 10 seconds that gives like 200% boost to speed and a chance to blow up when you use it. That'd be really fun.

But if it blew up...that'd be awful. You'd have to rebuild it.

Maybe it should have some kind of quick boost, like an additional 70% boost or something, and every once in a while, the flaw kicks in and it malfunctions, making it so you can't hop on your flying mount again for like 10 minutes.

By blowing up I never meant it would destroy the mount.. By that I meant graphic engine blow up, which snares you for like 10 secs.

You should probably be playing Unreal Tournament.

Have you played Warcraft 1-3? Probably not, or you'd know why the Gyrocopter looks like that. We're not talking Draenei engineers here, mate, we're talking Gnomes/Goblins. Go to Gadgetzan, Area 52 or Toshley's Station. It's not all shiny and space age there.
