At what level can you do instances for Primal Nether?Follow

#1 Oct 10 2007 at 8:48 PM Rating: Decent
The epic engineering goggles aren't level limited, so I'm wonder what would be the lowest level to attempt to get the Primal Nether.

I'm a casual player and don't do instances very often. The character I'd want to do it with is a 64 prot-spec warrior. http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Thunderhorn&n=Dabulls

Any advice on where I should go and at what level?

They can drop rarely in the lvl 70 non-heroic instances. You can get in earlier, but you would most likely be a liability if you aren't lvl 70.

I've never seen one drop in a non-heroic instance, but that doesn't mean that it isn't possible. However, for the sake of argument, you need to be 70 and heroic keyed to get them.

To level, just quest. Seriously. It's the best way to level, and a great way to get gold, gear, rep, etc.

I've seen Primal Nether drop from Kalithresh, Harbinger Skyriss, Murmer, Kargath, and Aeonus. (All non-heroic). I'm not sure if Blizzard upped the drop rates on them recently, but I can definately attest to having seen them drop in non-heroic level 70 instances.

I've seen three drop so far - one off the last guy in Sethek Halls, one in Steamvault, and one in Shadowlabs. That is within the last two or three weeks, as I just hit 70 recently and started doing these instances.

To answer your question... while you might be able to make them at a lower level, the only way you could get it before 69-70 is if you had a group of 70s run you through a normal instance for the extremely low chance of once dropping. I have seem one drop from a non-heroic, but only ONE and I'm exalted with everything except CoT (which I'm most of the way revered with) so you can imagine the number of times I've run the stuff.

Honestly the best way is to get to 70, get your gear up and try to get into a heroic.

in order to enter the heroic, you must have a key. you must be revered to purchase a key from the quartermaster. without the key, you cannot enter the instance in heroic mode.

bottom line: you'll have to run instances to get the rep for the heroic keys first.

while you're doing that, level to 70. because there's no way I would go into a heroic with a sub-70 tank... it's hard enough finding a 70 who can successfully tank them. maybe you can find some well-geared and generous guildmates that will help you out.

*btw, I once saw a nether drop in normal shadow labs*

It is *possible* to get keyed for a Heroic instance without levelling out of the 50s bracket. You can get Thrallmar/Honor Hold honor from killing mobs at any level, so just party up with your guildmates and have them farm you up to Honored, then ding 58 and do all the quest chains that give Thrallmar reputation--have those same guildmates clear out all non-quest mobs when not partied with you to keep your XP gained low.

That will get you darn close to Revered. Do the daily capture-the-tower quest until it puts you over the top, then buy the key and have your guildies swap you in to a heroic run just before all the boss fights. You'll soon join the growing ranks of the level 59 twinks with super goggles.

5% drop rate on all final bosses in non-heroic 70 instances.

100% drop rate in heroics off final bosses.

Mumur from Shadow Labs dropped one (and I won it! Smiley: yippee)for us on Tuesday night. We were doing the run for my Mages Kara Key frag, non-heroic.
So, it does happen but to be honest that is the only time I have ever seen one drop in a non-heroic.

the 5% and 100% statement above is probably all you need to know, but in case this helps, I saw it drop from the last boss of non-heroic Black Morass. You can conceivably do this instance before 70. The group may need some 70s but it's possible that you are not 70 yet.

Yeah, places like black morass, steamvaults, shadow labs, shattered halls I consider them all to be 70 instances, but you're right, you don't have to be 70 to get in them. Only instances with a true 70 requirement are the TK ones, since you need a flying mount to get up there, and summons are not allowed up there.

I saw one drop last night in non-heroic Sethekk Halls off the final boss. I didn't roll on it as my blacksmithing isn't quite high enough to use it yet and I had already won a roll on a nice blue item. We had a level 66 Priest healing for us so even if it's not possible for a 64 to get one, it is certainly possible for a 66.

As for heroics, I thought that as long as at least one player had the key that the group could go in? I could be mistaken though.

All group members must have they Heroic key. If one doesn't he will not be able to enter the instance.

I've only done Shadow Labs and Steam Vaults once(non heroic, also only 70 instances i've run so far) and a nether dropped on the final boss of both.

You'de have to be a very loved person in your guild for them to run 4 maned through 20-30 instances before you got a drop. its a 5% drop

Oh, and getting a Primal Nether before 60 will be fairly easy in 2.3, when a key is available at Honored.

But you might need to have few pieces of better level 70 req gear to beat them.
If you are not willing to be just a fifth wheel being run by experienced and well geared 70ies. At 64 you cant even hit some of the bosses.
I wouldnt give up a pride of doing my job properly for no nether.

The correct answer is you "can" get a nether at level 55.

This would be done by getting any decent level 70's and paying them huge amounts of gold to suck up their fifth slot on murmur, which is a ridiculously easy boss fight once you know the strategy and then dying early in the fight as to gain zero experiance.

This could also be done with most other level 70 instances as well by a competent group of level 70's.

Or have some bored guildies bring you along for the murmur fight any time they go to get someone their kara key, which seems to happen quite often.
