Ive run into a variety of stuff while fishing, rather than just fish or pearls. [ive only ever got one bloated fish]

most have been flavor items, like a worn out boot. But often ive found green items like a blade at lvl 25 that i used for 4 levels. A leatherworking recipe and a nice cloak at lvl45 with some nice agility on it. Once a wand with +spell damage and intel on it. cant remember when though.

havent found anything too interesting lately though. Just engineering reagents and cloth.

sounds hilarious too.

i love finding high level cloth and leather in those boxes.

i think zangarmarsh has a fishing spot with a rare but fantastic fishing drop.

I've enjoyed fishing for a long time and have come across a lot of things. The thing that really sticks in my mind are three 14-slot Journeyman's Backpacks that I fished out of wreckage pools in STV when my main was in mid 30s. At the time, these were huge upgrades that I couldn't afford to buy from the AH.

Mr. Pinchy!

It took three Mr. Pinchies before I finally got the pet, but it was worth it.

Best thing I got? Probably all those bolts of Mageweave I used to fish up in STV. Things sold pretty well at the vendors...

As for the most interesting thing, I once fished up a skull in UC. According to my guild, it was most likely Jimmy Hoffa. I threw him back.

Not really a item that I fished up but it was in a lock box that I fished up and had someone open for me http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=13067&locale=enUS;source=live.
I sold it for 150 gold on my server.

What are the best things to fish? I hit the schools when I can, but definitely will stop if I find floating debris. I'm level 36 human warrior with 157 fishing. Someone mentioned Southshore as a great place to fish... I'll check it out tonight after running the Scarlet Monastery.

I've caught Mr.Pinchy twice since BC came out. First time I got the pet on the first AND third wish! (Shame they share the same activation, or I'd have both the little buggers out.) Second time I caught him, I got another pet on my first wish.

My guildies hate me. ;D

Vendorfish, definitely--unless we're counting STV contest fish that give you hats/boots/eternium line.

And this is a lame answer, but I have to say fishing Deviate Fish during my ten day trial--I hit 20 in a few days but was too lazy/cheap to upgrade right away, so I spent the next few days fishing Deviates. I had to upgrade at Day 7 of the trial because my bag/bank slots were full, but I cooked those suckers up and sold them over the next two weekends. I made at least 200g, which now is only a two-three days of dailies but at the time/level, it was fantastic.

Got Mr. Pinchy box on first pinchy, third wish, I was so happy!

The other really good thing I got over a year ago was a Rockhide Strongfish, a lvl 30 or so mace that looks like a fish in hand. As my rogue is my fisher I can dual-wield that with one of the fish offhands.

I’ve only managed to catch Mr. Pinchy once thus far. And all I got were two buffs and some potions. I’m siding with your guildies. *smiles*

I’ve not caught much that was all that special. I’ve fished up a lot of crafting supplies, much of which I used. The most useful of which have been the fel iron bolts and elemental blasting powder for leveling up engineering on two characters.

There are some fun items out there that I’ve never managed to catch:

Broken Wine Bottle
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=6651&locale=enUS;source=live

Steelscale Crushfish
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=6360&locale=enUS;source=live

Rockhide Strongfish
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=19808&locale=enUS;source=live

I tried for the broken bottle for a long time and finally gave up. But if all you are trying to do is raise your fishing skill and you don’t need the fish, this could be a fun bonus to go for.

I’ve also tried for both the level 20 and level 40 mace fish, but again I had no luck. I did manage to buy a couple of level 20 Steelscale Crushfish at a reasonable price. I just can’t decide which character to give them to. What’s nice about all three items is that they are one hand maces. So they could be duo-wielded by rogues and warriors.
