Engineering and BlacksmithingFollow

So im level 70 and have mining and smithing capped, have my lunar crescent made, but recently ive been looking at the stuff you can make with engineering. The teleporter trinkets are nice and the epic goggles are pretty good. Not to mention all the fun little trinkets.

Would it be worth it to drop mining and have smithing and engineering? Im not worried about making money with my professions, and obviously id do a fair amount of mining before dropping it to help defray the costs of levelling another profession. So, what do you guys think?

In the end I dropped smithing after having the same choice as you. I wasnt quite as high but its crazy how much stuff from Mining you need to level engineering the only way I could thing of keeping both is

A) Have an alt as a miner in case you forget anything you needed to make from mining while leveling.

B) Have cash to buy the mining bits you need that you forgot.

C) Be really organised and make everything you need from mining before you quit it using the leveling guids. However I found that most guids can be a little bit out on the mats you need in total.

This is just my opinion and I did power level engineering over the weekend for the cool tanking goggles. But for both smithing and engineering the tie in with mining is massive at later levels that without a mining alt I am sure you are going to need something that you forgot to smelt beforehand or the material requirements for leveling from the guids can be out as i mentioned earlier forcing you to buy them.

If you're not worried about money or crafting much with your blacksmithing, then there's really no need for you to have mining if you don't want it.

I'm not completely sure what you mean by 'worth it' to drop mining, but if it's that you want a fun profession with nifty toys, then engineering is for you. Engineering goes better with mining since most of the materials come from mining stuff but it's not necessary to have it, just very helpful.
