I don't know about enchanting because I haven't played one in years, but I can talk about jewelcrafting. If I really put forth the maximum effort I can bring in a lot of gold, but I'm not actually truly making money. I have invested SO much money into leveling it that it'll take me a long, long while to regain what I've spent on it. On top of that, the service charge market (ie. spamming trade chat to cut raw gems for a fee/tips) has become so flooded that its simply not worth my time to do it. I can make more money doing other things.

Having said that, I am my guild's unofficial jewelcrafter. I have every rare design (both BoE and rep) and I now have the first 14 Hyjal cuts. I am the first one everyone in my guild turns to when they get a new piece of gear. That's the main reason I became a jewelcrafter, not to make money, but to be the guild supplier of cut gems. So the market drying up doesn't bother me.

You will make a lot more money with dis(Enchanting) than you will with jewelcrafting. Also, if you do take JCing you will want to drop skinning for mining to supply your own mats.

Crafting professions are money losers. Period. Choose them for what they can provide you, not others. Materials will always sell better (and for more) than crafted items, unless you can find a niche market.

Having said that, both enchanting and Jewelcrafting can be treated as gathering profesions, because they also contain the skills needed to gain the mats: Enchanting has disenchanting; Jewelcrafting has prospecting. Use these skills and sell the resulting mats on the AH - you won't lose out either way.

I'm gonna side with ohmikeghod on this one. Both while you are leveling and when you max out, gathering professions make you the money.

Your skinning is a good choice for a hunter, since you can continue to use your track beast, etc.

If you think you might like to chill out at the AH a bit each day, disenchanting is good.

Even though tracking minerals or herbs means you turn off your other tracking, hunters can be herbalists and/or miners (it's a personal choice). Those professions make plenty, although minerals probably sell better in the AH at a low level.

What would I do? I'd lose the leatherworking, pick up another moneymaker, and buy an occasional crafted item rather than making my own. When you hit 70, if there is some epic gear you want to make, you will have the cash to start crafting.

are you serious with this advise??

Crafting profs are ALWAYS money losers. Even if guild "shower" you with stuff they wont give you all the mats you need to skill up.

BTW not everyone has a guild which provide the mats, most of us grind for the mats
