I don't know if this is only happening on my server(Gnomeregan), but we have a couple(or the same on different characters) making it really hard for new players to get anything out of the auction house.

Let me explain. I went to the auction house last week because I wanted to lvl up enchanting. Figured I'd just DE a bunch of stuff to lower my costs. Well, I get on the AH and someone is listing some items for 4-5gold a piece, no matter the level. So I check and apparently the person was buying items with high agil/stam on them from lvl 1 to lvl 30 and reposting them at 5G a piece. Thought it might be a good ploy, and continued my search for DE items.

Now I go on just the other day, and the same person has started to buy ALL the greens up to lvl 35 in cloth and leather(mostly for pants, chest, boots and hands) and posting everything up for 5G. I've also seen a couple other names join in the fray since it started. The only way you can get anything at a decent price anymore is if someone is lvling up smithy/leather/cloth and puts up a few of the same things for cheap, but even those get bought out by the same people pretty quickly.
It's actually getting to the point where unless you want grey or white items, you can't buy anything for less than 1G.

Just a mini rant I had to make that irked me a bit.

Blame dailies. Higher level characters have lots of gold laying around and don't mind shelling it out to get items for their alts. If you can make upwards of 120g every day with only about an hour or so's worth of effort, would you care to spend 5g on something?

If you're a new player, then you probably shouldn't be getting things off the AH in the first place, particularly if all you're doing is buying greens to disenchant for mats to skill up on. Powerleveling professions is expensive, especially if you are impatient and don't accumulate the mats (at a reasonable price) over time. If you try to buy up what you need all at the same time, you will be subject to the price that people charge right then.

Leveling enchanting slowly, while you level your character is relatively easy. You'll get enough greens along the way to disenchant for skill points up to about 50 or so, all the while accumulating mats. Then, use those mats for the cheapest (in terms of mats used) enchants to skill up.

Someone has cornered the market. It happens. It isn't essential that you buy things off the AH, so really there's not much to complain about. It's a free market and it (and other people) won't behave they way you want it to all the time.

Take advantage. Farm linen or wool cloth or light leather and make cheap, useful greens. Alternately, farm RFC with a high level character for low greens. List these on the AH for 2g99s. The monopolists must either buy you out or lower their prices to compete with you.

They also might be trying to sway auctioneer. I saw the same thing today. They had listed single pieces of siverleaf for 1g a piece. Which is a good thing in my book cause you cant really. Do a search for anything and the listings are just undercut after undercut till things that normally go for 50 or 75 silver are listed at 5 or so.

In my experience, the AH will self correct. Either the monopolist will lose money or he will make money. If he loses money because he is overpricing, then he will stop that particular practice. If, however, there are people buying his overpriced items, then he will continue to buy low/mark up. And you really can't blame him. I would do my best to take advantage of this juicy situation. Do several low level instances and put all the greens on the AH to see what happens.

On Dentarg, one person is listing things for 100 times value. But like they said, make money playing their game, run VC or WC and stock up on greens and then list them for 1-2 gold. You make money, more then DE will make you.

Also, wait until Autioneer is fixed so you know prices, if you do not follow them as close, like me.
