How would a Pally farm?Follow

#1 Sep 16 2007 at 2:48 AM Rating: Decent
I've started both Paladin and Druid. atm no decision yet on who will be the farm alt.

There's enough tips out there on the internets for Druid farming/gathering/raids/etc but what about for Paladin?

What would you recommend I spec a paladin for farming greens?
The farming would be mining/herblism (keybind to maximise finding both)

Do the druid, a pally kills far too slowly to be worthwhile in farming. A druid does some decent dps. For a good farming alt, a hutner or warlock is generally the best because of the little downtime.

If you're looking for an effective farmer, a prot pally can actually be fairly decent at killing groups of creeps once you learn how to do it properly. That said, it's not particularly efficient because it is fairly slow, so I'd advise you to listen to the posters above me and roll a different class to farm with.

I personally used to farm with my pally, and I thought it was pretty nice until I tried out a lock...I had no idea what a difference it would make. It was like getting off my bicycle and hopping into a Transformer...goddamn I <3 them DoTs.

How would a Pally farm? Agonizingly slowly.

Your farming alt should be a hunter. You can level up quicker than a Pally - I speak from experience - and having a pet allows you to gather while the pet tanks. Give it skinning and mining or skinning and herbalism and go gather.

But, between Pally and Druid - farm with your druid, for all the reasons mentioned and because you get cat form so if you want to farm greens you can stealth, you can also run faster before you get a mount (as with aspect of the cheetah on your hunter).

If you insist on farming with your Pally, Prot well let you take on more MOBs at once (but you kill them s l o w l y), and Ret will let you kill MOBs less slowly than Holy or Prot.

I have a prot pally that I do farm greens and cloth with and I can average about 150-200 gold per hour. With the right gear and spec you can kill 8-10 mobs in the time that it takes others to kill 2-3. If you use your seals and judgements right you have almost no down time either.

So farming with a prot pally is a good option.

Please explain, as I'm curious about this. How do you do this? Gather up 4-5 MOBs, ret aura, drop consecration and take them down one at a time? Or sanctity aura?

Does it take much time to gather up that many? I suppose in instances it wouldn't. I specced prot early on, didn't like it, and changed. Maybe I should have given it more of a chance, or gone back to it later on. I guess I missed out on some fun.

Ret Aura, Consencration, Holy shield, BoSanc, Avenger's shield all do AoE or reflective damage and adds up to a high amount of damage.

i'd recommend also, that as a pally, you farm with aoe, rather than in singles.

it may mean you're always farming stuff 5-10 levels or more below you but the difference in doing many of them, versus many around your level, is just similar to how much faster you can take out one that is several levels below you compared to one at/near your level.

i have pally friends who love leading VC runs because they can kill 10-20 things at once, and it's fun to see all those exp reports pop up at the same time.

I do most of my farming in the outlands so MOB.s are same lvl or a few lvl's below me but not gray to me. my basic strat. is mount up gather up some mobs usualy 5 or more depends on how far apart they are. Then I throw down a conc., holy shield, judge wiz and seal wiz hack away with HS and conc. up when not on cool down. I also have ret aura up and BoS for the extra holy damage. I change up to judge and seal of light if health gets low.

You do not need to farm stuff that low you just have to be smart and use you seals, judges, bubbles, and if things go bad pots. But you can take on 5 or more MOB's your lvl with no problem.

I agree it is fun running the lower places like VC and SM I run them every so often to get cloth and greens for my low lvl alts. Plus I also DE lots of the greens and blues the shards and dusts also make you good amounts of gold.
