Mining @lvl 100 0.o? Am I missing something?Follow

I got mining to 375 on my main, no problems as far as i can remember. I'm lvling it again on an alt and I seem to have hit a brick wall at around lvl 100. The problem is that tin is the only 'yellow' (for mining, all smelting now is green) but I seem to get a level up every 5-6 goes, urgh.
And I don't get iron until lvl 125, i dunno that seems like a hell of a lot of tin to farm, I feel like i'm missing something, any advice? I suppose silver might give me more skill ups but i never run into silver veins.

i noticed on my dwarf and NE that skinning levels up differently. my dwarf hunter was close to lvl 60 before he maxed at 300, and my NE druid maxed at 300 in the late 40s.

INT may be the reason for your discrepancies also.

As for the solution? Well you said it yourself. Get to other veins, like silver, and just keep going. You'll usually need a lot of tin anyway, and silver is good to sell off.

Try the Wetlands spider caves for contested zones. If you aren't high enough level yet, just do that before going to the higher level mining locations.

That's a problem zone for mining. You just have to ride it out. Try 1k Needles, especially the centaur caves, or the south of Silverpine, especially Beren's Peril.

I'm confused, though, by your saying Tin is yellow and yet you are only levelling up once every 5-6 times. I assume you know you only have a chance to skill up the first successful whack on a vein, right? You should level up at virtually every new vein at yellow.

I think he meant he got an occational skillup from the smelting.

I like that wowhead shows you which areas had the most nodes:

I wish that Allakhazam did that.

Running 3 oasis in barrens nets you tin and the occasional silver. IF you are a hordie of course.

I had best luck with frequently respawning tin veins at the Gold Coast Quarry in Westfall. When I switched a toon from skinning to mining I found the relatively scarce tin veins makes that a choke point.

depending on your level i found it very fast to level to 260 easily . but i am level 61
and the truth is mining is not that easy at low levels to up quickly either

first i went to the draenei starting area and just ran around mining it has some sets of around 10 veins fairly close together that seems to be good low level to get copper and a little tin , then i did the 10-20 area which i found was more running around , but i think the loch moden area has to be the best for tin , loads there and i made a lot of gold by this time

the draenei area was farmed until i got no skill and made me around 50 to 75g
the loch moden area i did the same and made around another 100g
then and this only works if you are at least level 45 and about 125 in skill is get to taneris and just keep running around the edge , depending on if others are farming you can get your skill up to at least 165 and about 10 to 15 veins per circuit , total made in tanris so far is around 250g and i am still getting some skillups

total time taken an hour or two a day for around a week

unless anyone knows better areas to farm ?

Go into the Wetlands and mine incendicite. You can level to 125 easily, it is all in one cave and respawns very quickly. There are also a couple of tin nodes that spawn in there. The cave is just to the right, on the way out of Wetlands to Ironforge, where all those spiders are.

You can do the quest also, for extra exp. Its called "Stonegear's Search" and starts with Pilot Stonegear in Dun Morogh. You don't need the quest to mine the incendicite though.

This was very helpful to get my alt through that slow spot between 75 and 125. Good luck!

Not at all OT. I remember them being in the low 20s - like 20 to 23. There is also a spider in there that's a rare spawn I guess, a widow spider of some sort. I really cannot remember the name of the spiders in there, but whatever they are named, this one has "widow" tacked on the name. It drops a nice shield!
